Hey /g/ what are there any guides or recommendations for speakers. I'm looking at getting a small setup for my house. Looking at 2.1 but can go 2.0 if bass is sufficient. I've seen some guides but all the products are only available in USA and i'm in Australia. budget is between $200-$400.

also speaker general.

and would you suggest going with an amp setup or getting powered speakers?

Audioengine A2+ if you don't have space on your desktop. A5's if you have space and want more bass.

If this is exclusively for PC use, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1.

If this is to hook up to a receiver, good fucking luck, kek. You'll only get something decent at that budget if you build your own speakers.

>implying sometimes the internal suspension is not also broken and after the refoam the speaker doesn't make a weird noise at ~300 Hz - 400 Hz bass

Yeah, just for laptop and phone to play music. I want speakers soon so powered speaker are probably the best option for now. Down the track I probably will get a proper stereo though so I was considering that option if there was a starting point I could build from

Thought about these t.b.h. I make music, the only problem is my room is so bad sounding

If you want flexibility in the future with good specs, get some 80s Yamaha gear. I have c40/m40 pre amp/amp driving some Bose 4001s. Let's you add anything you want to it later and sounds solid. Less than $400usd for it.

Not usually a huge Bose guy, but these sound pretty great.

A2s are not pieces of shit, but they sure are very poor value for money when the JBL LSR305s exist. A2s are also extreme-nearfield monitors that cannot make much in the way of accurate sound farther than 2-3 feet away.

Speakers without well-designed waveguides are dinosaurs, brand new or not.

is there enough bass on those 5' drivers, for electronic music?
>>
>>51386588
most people have never heard a system that's actually capable of doing electronic music justice, so i'll say "sure".

They play down to a real 45Hz, which is as deep as any of the speakers in your price range (or even above) can realistically play. The flipside is that the LSRs can maintain that up to 108dB, fantastic for woofers that size.

Even if you find the 305s lacking (and depending on the music, you very well could), moving to larger speakers is not the answer. For example, the purpose of the LSR308s is to provide better low-treble and to overall play louder. Not deeper.

Subs are the answer.
A multi-sub setup is a literal requirement for accurate, non-boomy subbass indoors. The physics requires multiple bass sources spread around the room.
But that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

yeah, I guess i'll can add the sub down the track anyway. Do they hold up well as just listening speakers though? I understand some monitors can become grating

If your still around op, check out the guides on this page.
