Hey guys is Marshmallow bug free? Im still on 4.4 because muh battery life, and decided to skip 5.0 and 5.1 because of that and the reported bugginess, is it safe to upgrade? I have a n5 btw

>if they had SD cards, removable batteries, and plastic or even metal backs

I have the same issues with this 2015 generation of Samsung phones.

That's why I'm actually thinking of getting a Note 4. I'm not 100% sure about this decision, but the extra money needed to get a Note 5 seems unjustified, if you get a phone with less options than the 4.
>>
I'm just wondering now, but how many people here have actually made use of the ability to swap out batteries? I have never had to make use of that feature. Nor have I had any trouble with just 32 GB of storage on my phone. The other thread someone talked about replacing the battery 2 years down the line because it could possibly die out. And then someone else said they needed the SD card because they needed 48 GB of porn on their phone.
>>
>>51363929

As someone who has had ever Note since the 2, get the Note 4.

The Note 5 does indeed give you less for your money. Far less.
>>
>>51363969
I use the battery swap feature when I am camping/traveling.

I would personally prefer a phone with 64gb Internal, then SD could fuck right off. But since phones with SD come with paltry storage, this isn't an option.
>>
>>51363929
I'm waiting on the S7, cause I keep seeing rumors they're going to fix some or all of those things.

Yeah, I've actually had trouble with that. 8 GB is not enough for even the most basic things you want to do on a smartphone. At least I got it for free.

So yes, I actually do know what I'm missing out on. I'm planning on getting a new phone soon enough.

>Whats a mobage?
It's the (Japanese) abbreviation for "mobile games." It usually refers to free to play games on (mainly) smartphones that both have a "stamina" bar that prevents you from continuously playing and forces you to wait should you deplete it; and micro transactions where you pay money for a specific type of in game currency. Usually this type of currency is used for drawing for characters of higher rarities, fill up your stamina bar, etc.
>Can I play it in English?
Some mobages have been translated in English such as Brave Frontier and Love Live: School Idol Festival, but the game featured in particular, Fate/Grand Order is a Japanese only mobage as I type this.

I have a nexus 5, but the battery is dying.
It takes 3-4 hours to charge now and my SoT is 2 hours. Love this phone, was an amazing investment.

What's a good cheap phone for a power user? I go through maybe 5 hours SoT daily and 4 hours of call time.

When I got my nexus 5 I was focused more on performance than battery life, but i need better battery life.

Should I get a new battery and hold off the upgrade, or should I just get a new phone?

Budget is 250 aud.
>>

The service area is just so much better, especially since I like to go camping a lot. I'm moving to Arizona, hopefully, and ATT just doesn't cut it in so many areas. T Mobile is even worse.

I don't get how Samsung sells so many phones unless people just don't care that they paid 600-700 for the device.

I wonder how many people buy them at Costco/Best Buy/ sam's Club in the US. You can buy them for good prices with 2 years contracts at those places still, because they get rid of the markup for the most part.
>>
>>51364920
Before that I was stuck on a Galaxy Ace, only got the iPhone 4 because it was free.
The Galaxy Ace was entirely indestructible, though. I dropped it down a flight of concrete stairs while sprinting and it didn't have a scratch on the front or back.
>>
>>51364920
> Apple shit doesn't age that bad.

Bullshit it doesn't. I replaced my 4s after just 2 years because of how slow iOS 8? or 7 whatever made it. Their batteries go to shit just like everyone's.
>>
hi guys i finally managed to kill my old trusty iphone 4s and i'm looking for something decent that i can buy off contract without shelling out $1000.

What's an affordable phone, available in Canada, that doesn't suck and is Android based on software side?

>>
>>51365018
I don't remember, I've not even had the phone for 2 years. I rolled it back for sure, but the phone was still shitting out on me and I baby my phones.

The 4 I had before it still kind of works, but even with an optimized loadout using a jailbreak the battery is fucked and it's laggy.

Electronics age.

Apple isn't special.

No, they're not the worst, but they're not the best.

IMHO Samsung's Galaxy S phones age better. My S4 still is super fast, and the battery is lasting quite well.

This has happened way too fucking often. I fucking hate it, yet there's not even an OPTION to have it tell you "are you sure you want to close all running applications?"
Anyone know a way around this? Is it possible to jailbreak a Note 4?
>>
>>51365122
Sure. You can jailbreak it If you manage to install iOS on it.
But personally I would recommend to take 5 seconds of your time and Google terms before asking at least so you don't end up sounding like a retard.

Same as the Moto X Pure. 32 GB. Non-expandable but you get a fingerprint reader.

The camera is one of the best on the market, better than any other in it's price range as well.

808, same as Moto X pure, but one less GB of Ram. It's a tie up.

mobile device guide guy here.

I tried Gdocs, it didn't keep any conditional formatting or filtering options. The filters are the best feature of the list.

I can go into the list and limit by:
>under $350
>2-4GB RAM
>Only Quad Core
>minimum 5" screen

and it'll break down all the phones that fall under that criteria. GDocs can't do that.

Only other thing I considered for online hosting is something one of my previous companies did. The used Sharepoint to host Excel Online documents that we could log into and edit. Unfortunately, I think Sharepoint is really expensive and complicated to set up.

If anyone has better options for hosting Excel docs online I'm all ears. For now, I'm gonna stick with Drive docs you can download.

Yes, storage goes to the Pure. But the pure doesn't have a finger print reader. Again, these are trade offs and exchanges. The phones appeal to different audiences.

They're just conditional formats from highest to lowest value with green being highest and red being lowest.

I figured it'd be an easy, at-a-glance reference for certain values. In the RAM and ROM columns, greener means more memory/storage, red means less.

Same for the ratings from PhoneArena and GSM Arena. The difference between greentree is directly correlated to the rating of 10/10 Vs 0/10.

Hey friends, I've just received an invite to buy Oneplus X, I am looking for a 5" or smaller screen. I am torn between them, maybe there are other options, which I didn't find on my own? Once again I am a cheapo and spending 300+ euro on a device that can get shattered, stolen or whatever is not something I'd like. Also knowing that there will be some dried shitskins cum all over the used ones.

This is a reminder for android users:
Wealthy and white people predominantly choose iPhone.

>Yep, it's true: Android is the poor man's phone worldwide
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/06/19/its_true_android_is_the_poor_mans_phone/

>Still Don't Believe Android Is For The Poor? This Chart Proves It
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-by-price-2014-8

>Proof That Android Really Is For The Poor
>Google's Android mobile operating system has 1 billion users — more than twice the 470 million people on Apple's iOS equivalent — yet Apple pays out twice the amount of revenue to app developers on its system, according to Andreessen Horowitz analyst Benedict Evans.
>That's because Google is aggressively going after lower-income users on a global scale. The company recently launched Android One in India, which allows device manufacturers to make $100 smartphones. Apple, by contrast, prefers to sell its iPhones for more than $600.
>So although it sounds crass to say "Android is for poor people," on a global scale that's exactly how it is being used.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2014/04/05/surprise-apples-iphones-are-expensive-so-rich-people-are-more-likely-to-have-them/

You can tell where the rich people are in the city by looking at iPhone distribution. You can also tell where the white neighborhoods are and where black & hispanics neighborhoods are just based on iPhone usage. Yes, really.
>>
>>51377876
You can also tell who is a retard with herd mentallity.
>>
>>51377876
Yeah, and rich people buy cars with poor value like BMWs, Audis, and Lexus.

I like that Android has phones for rich fags, and phones for poor fags. I see that as a redeeming quality.

iOS won't be this popular forever.

A used S5, if you can find a good one on craigslist or whatever, will run you near $200 and last you quite a while until you can buy a S7 which should be much better, having qualcomm 820 and refinement of the new metal style S6 build.
Just flash AOSP on the S5 and it'll be smooth as fuck. The only difference between that and S6 is the camera desu.

sounds like someone hasn't used an S6 before lol

S5 vs S6, the "only difference" is not the camera.

Finger print sensor is 10x better
SoC is faster and makes graphic transitions smoother
more RAM allows for more multitasking
USF 2.0 internal storage means everything loads faster and the phone in general is more responsive, it also boots up faster.

I could go one, but the camera is far from the "only" difference.

Also, kek at anyone who said samsung had shit updates.

What would be something similar that isn't crazy? I don't need all that 4k, 8gb ram bullshit. I mean, if it comes down to it, I'll just get a sim for my Nokia 515.

Here's a picture of both on my bed.
As I said, the only noticeable major difference is the camera. The other differences are minor or almost invisible from the user experience point, and not worth the money - esp if S5 is running AOSP. I'll give you the fingerprint scanner too as that slipped my mind, but otherwise there's no reason to upgrade when you can wait for an S7 in ~4 months.

If the camera it's all you are looking on a phone just get one of those "camera" devices. Phone cameras aren't professionals but I'm pretty sure you don't need RAW selfies.

Anyway phone's cameras are relative too many specs like sensors and shit. So just get something you like and don't expect to shoot Hollywood movies.
