Hey, /g/

I'm having this problem with Fallout 4, when the enemies spray blood it turns into these rays in pic related.

I've turned off God Rays, but that hasn't done anything, and also updated my gpu drivers.

/v/ hasn't helped other than telling me my gpu is dying.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
>>
Its ok. Its the way it meant to be played.
>>
Its OK because its a Bethesda game

Looks like GPU artifacts senpai.
Try down clocking your GPU to see if that helps.
>>
What's your specs in general? Cpu, gpu etc

Graphics card is kill

I play the game on low settings, I know my laptop's a dinosaur.

There's your problem.
>>
>>51320989
Increase voltage and/or get better cooling.

>>51321198
Nothing wrong with that, I'm still using my hd 5870.
75+ fps battlefield 4 high settings.
80 fps + planetary annihilation high settings.
>>
>>51321230
No, but Nvidia payed Bethesda to have low performance for AMD.
>>
>>51320885
gpu ded soon
>>
>>51321230
>Nothing wrong with that
Isn't the minimum spec a GPU with 2gb of VRAM (7870) and the 5870 only has 1gb? Your video card is two generations older than the minimum.
>>
The real question is, why are you playing that shitty game at all?
>metacritic userscore = 4.8/10
Franchise was dead the moment they adopted the dialogue wheel and voiced pc. Just move on op, it's not worth it.
>>
>>51320989
The i7 720QM is cutting it. Minimum specs require Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent.
>>
>>51323474
Minimum requirements are usually to save their own skin.
Doesn't battlefront 3 ask for 16gb ram?
Either way I don't follow fallout so I can't know if it'll work or not, but my 5870 is still performing amazing for something so old.

How is that phenom even close to competing with that i5 in performance
>>

>Minimum requirements are usually to save their own skin.
If you want to disregard the minimum specs that's your call but you'll excuse me if I don't find your disregard persuasive.

>Doesn't battlefront 3 ask for 16gb ram?
Does it? If you are referring to the one that is just about to be released it only has 8gb as the minimum requirement.

versus

So about equal. However compared to:
http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/cpu/Intel+Core+i5-2300+Processor/review
It is considerably short of the minimum requirements for an Intel processor.

Not exactly related to OP's issue, but I cracked down on the origin of the mouse lag in my game. It's NOT iPresentInterval, MouseAcceleration or ForceIgnoreSmoothing.

It's Nvidia's motherfucking 358.87 WHQL Fallout 4 Ready driver that introduced this permanent mouse lag whenever the game doesn't hit exactly 60 fps. I rolled back to 337.88 (Shader Cache debut) just for kicks and it behaves just like Raw Input. Unfortunately 337.88 is too old and there are graphical glitches in the game. So it's a matter of trying out the WHQL drivers between 337.88 and 358.87.

fallout 4 is a piece of shit unoptimized game made in lego++ or some shit

I was at my buds house and he had this problem: the textures and graphics don't change from LOW to ULTRA, no fucking difference

after trying every fucking shit fix online and spending 30min with .ini settings I gave up

Bethesda makes unfinished games and just releases them for the mod community to fix their shit fuck that game
>>
artifacts like these are usually signs of overheating or too much overclock.

does it seem to only happen after a certain amount of time? if so it most likely overheating
>>
>>51320885
can i play fallout 4?

amd athlon ii 640 x4 2.6 ghz
nvidia geforce gt 220
4gb ram
>>
>>51323690
i have basically their exact minimum requirements for f4. a 7870 ghz, an fx 4300 @ 3.1ghz, and 8gb of ddr3 1330mhz ram.
i can manage all high settings, god rays on low, at over 30fps without weird artifacting or anything.
so i could imagine a lesser system like ops being able to handle the game with reduced settings.

to op: what resolution you running? you might be hitting the vram cap of your card.
>>
>>51320989
>5870
If you get artifacts in other situations the GPU is probably dying. If it's just that one effect it could simply be AMD's pre-GCN legacy driver support being shit. Bethesda's code is probably not helping.

>>51323790
Did you steal that from a homeless person or something?

Your GPU is dying, it's the same thing my 7900GT was doing when it was dying.

can i play fallout?

You'll excuse me if I don't believe you because it isn't personal. I just don't believe any stranger let alone some anonymous on 4chan. Even if you are being completely honest it doesn't change the fact that those are the minimum specs Bethesda provided. That could mean it is the minimum they tested and attained stable/acceptable results or that could mean they were simply being conservative. Regardless it is clear that FO4 is not designed to run on the OP's system as it falls far short of the minimum requirements.
>>
>>51320885
nice textures, kid

microwave your GPU to resolder the joints, it's the only way to save it now
>>
>>51323863
My GTX275 did that back in Mafia 2 when I still bothered with gaming.

I still use that card today with no issues. You are full of shit.
>>
>>51323891
>reheating your BGA chip to fix a problem
>>
>>51323915
If it only ever occurs in one application then it is probably a bug with your driver.
If it occurs in other applications then it is the graphics card.

But his GPU is probably dying.
>>
>>51323915
it's probable that if you stopped playing vidya you're not using the RAM chip that fucks with the card.
>>
>>51323949
This too, or it is a computational unit that was causing corruption to data being run through it.

Either way, if you don't use the card for 3D computation then you're probably not stressing the areas that the fault is in. It's like bad RAM that only shows errors once it reaches certain loads or temps, it's still faulty even if it is fine 99% of the time.

>>51320885
THE FUTURE IS NOW
>>
>>51323949
>>51324001
I didn't stop completely, still play some games, just not for countless hours every day. Probably should though.
But again, zero issues (besides performance). At this point I'm not upgrading unless it dies, and the thing doesn't seem intent on dying after 6 years of daily use.
>>
Your GPU is fine. It's probably VRAM being too low than required.

Source: Did graphics programming.
>>
>>51324039
Gtx 260 was about on par with a 650, the 275 should still be a decent card for gaming, even though it lacks dx11 support.
>>
>>51324088
How the fuck would not having enough video memory corrupt transformed vertices like that?

Unless the game is somehow feeding the vertex shader random crap after failing to load the particle billboard mesh or something.
>>
>>51320885
Bethesda is the answer.
