The only thing I can think of is an SSD. You won't get shit for 80 dollars.
>>
>>51317728
I assume it has like 2 gigs of ram, so that would probably be the most useful. Cheap, too.
>>
>>51317728
I had that exact desktop 11-12 years ago
>>
>>51317728
For $80 I think you could get some petrol and matches; then burn that thing
>>
wow is that an external network card? or a 56k modem?

take a photo of inside if you can, that would be the only thing that would help
>>
>>51317728
oh my god i have this pc but with Intel
it died completely two weeks ago and even linux didn't run well on it
>>
Op here
Cant right now but i will when i come home in a couple of minutes
>>
>tfw i can make a PC that BTFOs OPs with all the forgotten spare parts i have lying around.

Shit, there's a retired GTX 780 in my closet right now (not to mention all of those now obsolete range-topping GPUs lying around)
>>
>>51317728
If you're willing to save up a little more you could build a very cheap but practical PC

Here's 2 options

I would get 4 1GB DDR2 sticks of RAM and possibly a new AM2 heat sink because the ones I've seen on HP machines are garbage. What are your idle temps? Don't spend anymore than $50 total on upgrades. Beyond that, you're better off just getting a new CPU/Motherboard/RAM combo.
>>
>>51317995
Why not? It's a helpful guide.
>>
>>51317871
Shit i'd be happy as fuck with that spare part in my ancient toaster... Need to get a job.
>>
if the sticker's right, only you have only 1 MB Ram, try to obtain another ram stick to reach 2. An SSD will boost OS and data loading times. You have no discrete graphic (back pic). Installing even an arch old 6600gt (you probably could get one or better free) will help.
>>
>>51317728
>>51317773

If you look closely, you'll see he has 1GB RAM.
RAM would be a great place to start; get 4GB at least. Then, when you get a new PC, you can just reuse that RAM.

Goddamn. Memories of playing a newly released CSS with my 6800 GT suddenly flood my mind.

Look on ebay. You might check to see if you have a GoodWill computer store within driving distance. Try to get buy without buying anything new because you could spend $250 and have new innards that would wreck that shit.
>>
>>51317728
Look for used shit.
Should be able to grab an i3 2100+mobo pretty cheap.

tenty or thirty buck gpu will make a world of difference
>>
>>51319939
Only if he plays old games on it, otherwise he'd do much better from a RAM upgrade (which would still be a waste if he bought new DDR2)
>>
>>51317748
Clean that shit nigger
>>
>>51319963
it'll also make a difference on flash and videos won't it? and don't bash flash, streaming html5 porn is pretty rare

For $80 you can buy a complete PC off of ebay that probably far outspecs that one.

Quick ebay search yields this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Precision-workstation-T3400-Dcta-core-2-duo-w-3-Ghz-4-Gb-ram-Dvdrw-working-/381461825655?hash=item58d0e58877:g:9uwAAOSwAYtWMwrk

You can take the hard drive out of your old computer and repurpose it in this one.

meh for a little budget increas to like one sixty or so, and some digging around newegg refurbished he can find something pretty good, not long ago I saw an i5 machine with 4gigs of ram and a 5oogig hdd for under two hunny
>>
>>51320298
>double OPs stated budget
>"little budget increase"
>>
>>51320304
yes eighty bucks is a small increase, just because his budget is so small that nearly any increase would double it doesn't make doubling it unreasonable
>>
Thank you for soiling my brain with these images. I am now going to go disinfect my brain.
>>
>>51320325
He's probably some little faggot still in high school. 80 bucks is a lot of money to him.
>>
>>51318114
>when you get a new pc you can reuse that ram

Pretty sure that may be ddr or ddr2 i hope his new pc is atleast ddr3
>>
That pc is un-fucking-moddable, so good luck
>>
>>51320895
Having owned one of those pieces of shits, they're actually fully ATX compliant (PSU, motherboard, etc). My first self built rig used one as a base.
