Why is Vim shilled so much?
I use notepad++ as my text editor, but after some time in this board i downloaded Vim, and it is shitty on every level.

Cause vim is default on any unix system, so you probably have to learn it anyways if you do anything related to servers.
On top of that it can compete / beat any other text editor by adding a few plugins for autocompletion and git, there's vim syntax highlighting for even the most obscure configuration formats, its one of the most powerful tools for bulk text editing, its robust and performant as fuck and can read GB big log files without crashing.

I regularly need to find something inside, edit, or generally read files that border on 500 megabytes or so.
Vim handles this with zero problems and remains feature complete while doing so.

Vim is actually really comfortable and nice once you force yourself to learn some of the commands.

set nowrap is probably the most important one, because nano hard-wraps text wider than the screen when editing, which is completely retarded behavior that dates back to the fact that Pico was a mail message editor
set softwrap is nice, if not ideally behaving
the rest are just shit I like, such as tabsize 8 being dumb and it's only a thing because it's literally the defined standard size

I use nano all the time for small text files. There's nothing to learn there really, it doesn't need insert mode first and you just move around with arrow keys. If you just want to type a few words into a text file, nano is great.

Like for example, when you type in something in "quotes" and want to get over the last quote, you press <Esc>2L instead of a single <Right> click that requires you to move your right hand to arrow keys (slow!!!)
Or how you have to use a cryptic combination of G, w, f and : to navigate where a simple mouse click would do.
Or how you have to construct 50-character regexps for simple replacements inside a function.
