why choose linux for your personal desktop's OS? i don't see the benefits, except for the better terminal
i installed a linux distribution and a desktop enviroment on a virtual machine to try it out but i'm having a hard time accepting that i will have to abandon all the software i'm familiar with for vintage technology like vim/emacs
i mean i'm having fun so far and i'm learning a bit more about certain topics that "just werk" on windows, but i don't see the practical benefits of switching, i'm trying to play devil's advocate and i just don't see it
i'm hoping somebody will give some good arguments for using linux

The thing is that you can't find a better text editor.
You can't judge an OS using it on a virtual machine. It will not be as performant as if it was installed.
Windows is shit where linux is good at.
Once you use linux for some times, going back to windows is just horrible.
Just to update your system, you'll have to :
>update manually each software at launch
>make sure you don't missclick and reboot your computer to uninstall a software
>update your drivers manually
>wait hours that windows updater finish his job
Then god know why, windows can't into multi tasking it seems. Whenever I run a lot of programs, things that to lagg, slow down, some programs not responding.
Also I still don't know if it's possible to fix a BSOD, thx for the logs and documentation available in windows.
