No shit. You'd stand zero chance IF targeted by them. AND as long as you use the data trunks they are tapped into they can collect your data. To make matters worse Windows has been backdoored.

Quite right.

Since the OS kernel only owns Ring 0 and above, if the NSA owns Ring -2 you're SOL regardless of OS.

Here's an example of Linux security getting BTFO by x86 hardware design, no need for a backdoor, it's not even a bug:

don't need a whistleblower to know that, however there is difference between not being 100% save from NSA (Linux, free bsd etc.) and sending
private data regularly to the NSA by default (post 10.6.8 osx and windows in general)

>>
>>51302417

>>
>>51302535
AMD too. It's just one example though, demonstrating an unpatchable privilege escalation from Ring 3 to Ring -2. Who can tell how many other exploits the NSA is aware of? Or how many parts ship with -2 backdoors pre-installed?

The key thing to take home is that while Ring -2 can do anything, the kernel can not even see Ring -2, so any such rootkit would be completely undetectable by the OS.
>>
>>51302644
AMD literally doesn't have the feature required for the exploit on any of their CPU. There is a similar feature on their APUs but nobody's figured out how to use it to form the exploit so far.

either way qubes os's Joanna Rutkowska's x86 considered harmful paper discusesses the intel management engine thing in depth and her understanding of it is that AMD's similar functionality is proceeding in the same way and will present similar problems

This.

I didn't see where this guy who is only pushing a shitty movie said the OSes are pwned. Only that no software can be called secure which is true in that it's impossible to guarantee zero bugs. Most of what he talked about was internet spying which it doesn't matter what software you're running.

He also said encryption doesn't matter but didn't elaborate. I guess he means the NSA is more than happy to have just the IP headers and deep inspection is only a bonus to them. If they can establish that ISIS was using a particular node then every packet sent to or from that node is enough to pin you as a terrorist.

Tor was supposed to prevent this but since they've got bugs in routers every fucking where they just look at where the packet goes in then wait for it to pop out somewhere else and the trace will pick up right where it left off. Is this even something I2p can cope with?

Of course not. Once they map the whole Internet, game over. Sounds like they're almost there.

>>51308431

This is the only way, but it's still not 100%. They're going to know where you're accessing. They're going to know your node. They can go into the real world and look for you. Plus, as Snowden I think said, have a cell phone? Shit, Tails won't help when they map your GPS coordinates with the node Tails was using. The more you use Tails, the more GPS data they'll have on you. You're screwed.

So yeah, use Tails, change your location each time, leave your cell at home. Oh and wear a disguise for the security cams.

Oh wait, drive a car? Automated license cameras will track your car throughout the city. Better not drive either. Pay cash everywhere too. Your credit card can be tracked.

Wait, I forgot automated face recognition is so good it can defeat sunglasses. They don't even need GPS to match you to whatever node you used to log in with Tails, and that's automatic.

Unless you're in North Korea or Iran, you better not commit a crime. The NSA will find you.

Hello Reddit.
>>
Lets accept that Intel processors have this magical backdoor in them (or something). That allows people who get their hands on this to know where the PC is, what it is doing

Why would US govt. use said chips? Wouldn't that make them in danger? Chinks could get that information too.

Unplug the webcam from the motherboard.

>NSA hasn't touched TempleOS yet
>>
>>51308567
yes. exactly.

BUT I use Tails only for a few things.

So they can track my stuff all they want but if my actions with tails don't have a connection to me they also don't get a connection to me.

That's not very much about IT, it's more of using common sense.

Most guys using the Onion network got busted because they used clearnames, registed websites with ther clearnet-mail adress or logged f.e. into facebook after checking out some cp or sold drug or whatnot.

Even switching off the phone doesn't make it untrackable.

Even removing the battery doesn't.

Also I'm in europe so it's easier to be untrackable because the gov's basically can't do shit.

they weren't using surveillance on him, though.
if they are looking for your stuff, they will probably get it

So at the end of the day, what are they doing with this info? I mean, "officially". Just stopping sand niggers from going ape?

Mass profiling, mass statistic/analytics, spying on whoever they want (single person) SPYING ON EVERYONE ACTIVELY AND PASSIVELY.

>Most of them did not like the program and opposed it (Stellar Wind). But the vast population of NSA are ISTJ on the Myers Briggs scale, which means they are afraid to stand up and oppose things to avoid conflicts.

What sort of things "tip" them off to spy on an individual though? Is it generally people who are already suspects like terrorists and such?

Or do they randomly just go out of their way and target random individuals "just because"?
>>
>>51309502
Snowden has said you can just follow anyone you like with their pograms like xkeyscore for shits and giggles. No restrictions.

So you could if you want to follow the metadata of random sperg. This metadata cumulates, one metadata piece is nothing but when you connect the dots etc. it creates something he called context, a profile, where you can even predict future occurances based on the data etc.

>What tips them off.
No idea. We are most likely, this thread, entire 4chan userbase, in a heightened state of data collection since there are so many trigger words used (even in this thread).

Meaning we are not just in the passive catch-it-all program they use.

I installed Windows 10 the Enterprise LTwhatever (what /g/ recommends) to my old laptop with 330M and some shitty i5 and it works faster than any other windows since XP (it is SO long since I tested XP I can't say if its faster than it)

I had to do lots of cleaning up with the debloat scripts etc. and first time ever setup a non-windows firewall blocking Windows connections but I am happy with it.

I was surprised it found working drivers for my Broadcom ethernet since they were broken in 8.0 and 8.1 and now I can finally use it instead of Wi-Fi.

Of course no OS is safe. Why? Hardware backdoors. Its like everyone forgot about the findings where the majority of hard drive firmware includes backdoors. Not to mention mobo and cpu manufacturers. The ride never ends and loonix fags are high on their own smug in turbo denial
>>
>>51309747
sure - there are probably backdoors in my hard drive. how is the NSA going to get the data - regardless of whether it's encypted or not?

Yes, no individual can be safe from NSA, but only if he's specifically targeted.

Running an OS that sends the hash of every file you open to a third party is purely retarded.

>Yes, no individual can be safe from NSA, but only if he's specifically targeted.
False, vast majority of Internet data is passively collected. Snowden and other NSA people (the people that have confirmed Snowden's allegations in the press) have siad you can only get breathing room even with air-gapped devices.

is your last line referring to Windows 10? can't that be blocked though?

I did it on both of them actually but whoever did it now knows both of us and has our faces and who knows what else. My question is why turn on the webcam light to let us know ...?
