Looks like a solid build. CPU is a bit dated but still fine.
Spend some less on psu and mobo if you don't want to OC and get a 980 or a 980ti

I would definitely upgrade the GPU if you want to play future games well, and the PSU is overkill, but other than that, good build.

I already have a 960 from an old build, do you think I should use that until I have enough for a 980ti?
Also, looking for some advice moving the HDD. I already have all my games and shit installed on it but it's an OEM OS. I think I can just upgrade to a retail version and use sysprep to move it over right?

If you are planning on really stressing the cpu, go with an i7 skylake and nice cpu cooler. You would obviously need to go with new mobo/ddr4. The gpu is fine if you aren't too worried about games.

A 4790k would be fine if that's in your budget. For the mobo, just go with what's in your budget. Most mobos around the $100-150 USD are should be fine.

Honestly I don't visit /g/ very much, and I needed a mid-tier card that could fit in a small case. From I've seen online 970's are kind of chunky and generate some amount of heat, which is not so good in a small, poorly ventilated case. Maybe it would actually be fine, who knows.
