not everyone is playing games, and using typing intensive applications sitting on the couch. People have been paying that much for more hardware than they use for years. They just want a web browser that's fast and convenient, and they think this price point is normal. If its convenient and you like it who cares. people buy canned beans all the time even though dried ones are tons of times cheaper.

Apple is a status/fashion symbol, not just a piece of technology. You're paying for the logo and the overall design as much as you're paying for the hardware. Which is why considering it from a purely technical PoV is dumb as fuck.

I'm glad apple put an end to the old pc laptop era, life sucks when you gotta help out a friend or a relative every other day because they managed to fuck up their computer just by starting up internet explorer. Only to put more salt on your life when they get tired of their shit being laggy and going out and buying some vastly overpriced chink shit that cheaped out on half the hardware parts so they could over market the others to make them look better for a better "price". My mother can't even use the TV remote to turn it on but she has never asked me for help regarding her iPad mini, that is fucking amazing.
Not everyone needs to have the freedom of Android or Windows/Linux to do their daily tasks, and most of them certainly don't know how to compare prices and hardware specs when it comes to these complicated devices. With Apple you pay and you get, unlike others. I don't personally own any Apple devices because I like my freedoms and I know how to handle them properly but I am still glad for what Apple does, it gives those who can't handle tech properly an easier life.
