Tell me, which is better and why
If you absolutely need to save on space for storage, get an x220. I have a T420 and it isn't as big as I thought it was. Both should fit into a backpack nicely.
T420 1600x900, i7-2620m, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD
x220 because it has an IPS panel option that doesn't require having to browse chinese forums, soldering skills and putting up with infrequent flickering.

I had this same choice. I really wanted both. Decided on x220 so I can take it to uni or wherever. Love mine. Came with win 7.
I have both.
T420 has room for second hdd in ultrabay and actual buttons on touchpad so its kinda better overall if you need something for daily use, but i prefer my X220 since weights less and lives longer on battery.

Not a great resolution. It's tiny and not a real aspect ratio. It'll do for 12", though.
