Obviously mechanical keyboards are not an option in today's usual workplace due to both cost and noise level. What are some of the most comfortable keyboards you have been using at work?

Oddly that exact Dell keyboard is probably one of the most comfortable of all OEM.
>>
microsoft 600/800 are pretty good imo.
>>
I can dominate with any membrane keyboard.

I've been known to reach higher WPMs with them, given certain situations. (but some say, it's just a rumor)

I use browns at work. Or are you one of those people that think all mechs are blues?

I have all three of these on my desk. Plus a thinkpad.

I prefer the thinkpad, then the fat dell, then the skinny dell, and the fat lenovos are shiet

i'm using one of those that i've had for 12 years. has xp win keys without the bubble around the win logo. comfy to use desu senpai

Did your employer pay for a mech keyboard? Even if sufficiently quiet, it's rather still rather too pricey for a corporate equipment budget.
>>
>>51282947
If I order one of these, what's the guarantee I won't be sold an L100 instead which looks almost exactly the same but is much worse quality?

>>51283038
If I order one of these, what's the guarantee I won't be sold a KU-0225 instead which looks almost exactly the same but is much worse quality?

What's with companies such as Dell or Lenovo releasing "in-house knockoffs" of their flagship keyboard models that look the same but are much worse, and which are being sold to unsuspecting consumers rather than the good models? Kinda like with Thinkpad keyboards where the part number of the awesome NMB keyboards was assigned to the much poorer Chicony keyboards and people who sought after the NMB would be shoved a Chicony instead.

That's my keyboard, but with IBM branding. The keys are super squishy. It's also pretty durable, I've beaten the shit out of it a few times and it's still going good. I rate 8/10

because this is the fucking GOAT rubber dome keyboard, seriously.

just get a Cherry KC1000, they're elegant (won't look like an autist with some gaymur keyboard) and feel great to type on. they are pretty loud for a membrane keyboard though.

I actually kind of preferred this one to the one in OPs image. I bought one off amazon for 7$ and the lettering is almost all worn out though.
>>
>>51288744
Screw the lettering, if you touch-type all ASCII characters it's irrelevant. It's bad though if the keys are worn and have become shiny and slippery. Also properly cleaning a used keyboard is one goddamn chore.

>>51290936

Fuck your employer.

Fuck employers who bitch and moan about buying proper fucking hardware to interface between their shitty computers and their workers.

Protip: don't risk your career. First, buy your own keyboard. Second, keep careful track of your requests and their rejections. Third, look for a new job.

Do not comply with their retarded, short-sighted, self-interested insistence that you cripple yourself for their sake. Take care of #1: that means preventing RSI before it happens.

Nice taste in keyboard tho

I am sucking it up, wait for the 1 or 2 years old mark so I can look for a new job without looking like a pariah.
I am still writing my code on their keyboard, but I every keystroke feel like a finger inside a fat man's belly button.
>>
>>51283277

>>
>>51291088
>I am sucking it up, wait for the 1 or 2 years old mark so I can look for a new job without looking like a pariah.

Oh, good, that way you can have debilitating RSI that will take months of physical therapy and years to fully eliminate.

BUY YOUR OWN FUCKING KEYBOARD. I'm not kidding. Just fucking do it. Quit being a bitch.

Also, my understanding is that the job market is pretty hot right now. Change jobs NOW.

Why fuck around at some shithole that doesn't recognize equipment investment in the hopes of finding something better at some arbitrary point down the road? Start fighting for what you want NOW. In two years, the market might be shit. Then you'll be saying, "oh, I'll just stick it out another couple of years until the market is better..."

>Did your employer pay for a mech keyboard? Even if sufficiently quiet, it's rather still rather too pricey for a corporate equipment budget.

No it isn't, you pussy faggot.

You can get a decent mechanical keyboard for $100 or even less these days. You can get a Kinesis Advantage for $200 ish.

If you're working in software, there is no excuse not to shell out $200 on a keyboard and $700 on a chair. None. Both will outlast your workstation by far.
>>
>>51282947

>noise level
There are quiet mechanical key switches.

It's all fun and games until your employees start going to the doctor for RSI.
>>
Brown switch? I use one at work.
>>
>>51291252
>It's all fun and games until your employees start going to the doctor for RSI.
Why would they care, where I live the average programmer age in a company is about 26 years anyway, once 30 or older most companies look for excuses to lay you off (RSI or not) and hire fresh Chads.
>>
>>51291006
How are mechanical keyboards supposed to prevent RSI if their physical key layout is exactly the same as in the rubber dome keyboards (at least the older full-key-travel, non-flat/non-chiclet ones) and the typing process is exactly the same? If you claim that mechanical switches somehow magically prevent RSI, I have to call bullshit on that one.
>>
>>51290936
Because that's what corporations do, they buy tolerable quality "standard issue" keyboards like the one from OP's picture in bulk (paying a few buck apiece) and don't give a fuck.

Also bringing your own expensive keyboard, especially if it's loud, can be risky. Other employees may interpret this as a "special snowflake" and get pissed off (and people do get pissed off at others who stand out somehow, herd mentality and whatnot). Unless you carry it daily to and from work, someday you may find it damaged or stolen by some butthurt faggot.

this keyboard is perfect, it takes such a light touch to type on it, natural ergonomic layout
>>
>>51290420
Actually, what is the risk of malware sitting on a USB keyboard and infecting the computer after plugging it in, or hidden keyloggers within a keyboard that can somehow facilitate communicating the collected data somewhere? Also often attaching a USB keyboard results in many "HID compliant devices" associated with it to appear in device manager, should this be worrying?
>>
>>51293133
Some mechanical keyboards are reprogrammable, so you can change to Dvorak or something else. Or just convince procurement to get you an ergodox
>>
>>51282947
At uni I used to use OP pic and they were some of the comfiest ever used, untill I tried this >>51283190 that for me is even better.

I'm still using an old Acer 6511. Never found a better rubber dome keyboard. It's quiet enough for office use.

Mine has a curved case like pic related though.
