Lol I still have my first HTC android. it's 5/6 years old now.
The screen is still in tact, there isn't even a scratch on it
I carved the edges with a knife to make the aluminum or magnesium or what it is shiny when I was bored out camping.
I retired it last year because the screen is rather small and my requirements have changed.

In Australia, 2 year contracts are the norm and you're better off going on one than buying a phone outright and going month to month or prepaid. I go with iPhones because they work fine and have a great resale value after 2 years. I just get the latest version once it's up and I'm paying the same amount on the contract with a new phone and a few extra hundred bucks in hand.
