So after a few years it's seems like I will need to upgrade. Currently I'm running on a gtx 560 and x4 960t and I'm reaching a point where new games aren't really playable anymore. I'm fairly poor but also not obsessed with graphics and I'm only playing in 1080p. My first move would have been to buy a gtx 960 with 4g and buy a better cpu later some time. Any other tips or recommendations?
>>
>>51250893
you dont need a $100 mobo. and that processor is too expensive for a 4 core. go with this >>51250961

If you buy the GPU, you still wont be running shit, cause your CPU will be the bottleneck. If you're going to upgrade, upgrade them both.
Make sure your power supply is high enough to support the upgrade too. You "should" upgrade your motherboard too, but you don't have too.
No one really does.

Lots of people love them even if they are not autism /g/ approved.
Your build look really awesome but if you have the money for that case , gpu and cpu , id say get something better then an hyper 212 , there are also a lot of other air option before the AIO. My H105 keep my Oc K-serie always cool and i love it!

should i stick with 4460 or oc'd 8350
>>
>>51251042
We're talking about the 970. However the 960 is shit due to being worse than the 380 and the 280X, and, overall, just a weak card.

My "Buen Fin"/Black friday PC buy list.
In priority how i will get them Most probably/Less probably.

GPU:GTX750Ti/GTX 950
CPU:i5-4460/i5-4590
HSF:212 EVO
MOBO:GA-Z97-UD3H-BK
RAM:4GB RAM
HDD:1TB WD Blue
CASE:HAF912/Corsair 300r/Corsair 200r
PSU: EVGA 430W, might push to 500W B but not sure if i need 500W.

So how does it look guys? if all goes wrong i will get a I3-4160.
Is the case big enough for the Motherboard(all of the 3 cases)? is the PSU good enough for everything?
>>

you're ok with 430
>>

That simply isn't true. The 380 is more powerful. Yes, it sucks up more power, but that isn't really an issue. A 500 watt psu will handle it just fine.

I know that 950 is better than the 750Ti but the 750Ti is 80 bucks cheaper than the 950.
I just want a card that works, because pretty much any card will work better than the IGPU.
Also im on a tight budget as you can see.

I will drop the 212 EVO, i just wanted a quiet HSF because the current one i have its literally a jet engine and is driving me mad, my actual PC its not even under full load.

Bought an ASUS 750Ti to give my 5 year old desktop a little more life..
Things been crashing during windows startup now.. freezes.
Rolled back the drivers, works 50% of the time now.
If it freezes during windows startup.. I press the reset button.. starts properly this time.

lol finally considering an upgrade to windows 10 in the hope that the graphics card will work right..

This is why PCs are suffering.. they cant keep their crap together compared to the ease of a tablet...

Well which nVidia card would be a good alternative for the 960 (money-wise)?
>>
>>51251520
Change that motherboard. You can get a great one for 1/4th of the price. Also, the ram is nice, but you can get that for $60 on Amazon.
Get more memory. 500gb is not gonna cut it.
Also, $400 for a quad core? Do yourself a favor and get an 8-core processor.
Better, cheaper, and will be able to run next gen games more efficiently than a quad core.

>>
>>51252633
Probably, but you should never cheap out in the PSU since this greatly affects your PC lifetime.
>>
>>51252344
You're talking about such insignificant power consumption here. Even less than the 970/390 one. Yes it does have less, so much so that you could not tell in variance with the rest of the power bill. But yes, it uses like <40w more.

Clock speeds are not comparable to one another. They don't scale equally.

The 380 is a stronger card, when both are stock and both are overclocked.

>>51252387
May be confusing the numbers around there. You mean the 380.

>>51252365
Get rid of the memory. 1600 is identical and cheaper. Squeeze in an SSD if you can, makes life much easier and faster. I feel like your CPU/Mobo/GPU selection are good but you're spending the majority of your money there and cheaping out of the rest.

>>51252386
i5-6500 with a Z-board. The Z board can overclock but the non-k processor cannot. Change one of the following. i5-6500k or H-board. There is no need for such high frequency memory unless you need what it offers over regular 2400mhz. You're missing some storage. SSD/HDD

>>51252517
Yeah, you'll get a high quality board. Less chance of RMA. Last I saw the figures, ASRock had the highest RMA numbers of all major vendors

>>51252542
Everything looks like. Get 2400 memory over 3000 unless you NEED it for editing. Which GPU? 970/960 then don't bother.

>>51252651
I spend a good amount on my PSU's because they're the heart of the system. Nothing works without it. Everything is perfectly fine in that build. SuperNova's are decent.

>>51252652
Get rid of that Xeon. i5-4690k. Everything else looks fine.

PSU is the heart of the computer.

People always cheap out on PSUs and that's the reason many PCs last nothing.

A bad PSU can wreck your entire PC so NEVER EVER gimp out on a PSU.

>heatsink comes with thermal compound
>optical drive really does not need a brand
>250 GB ssd probably is overkill for most users
>you don't need a gold rated PSU
>>
>>51253699
Im not that guy but here is something else.

A bad PSU will also drain more energy and waste it more as heat, reducing its already short lifespan and damaging everything connected to it.

If a PSU is your Heart pumping think of a cheap PSU a Hearth with cancer pumping cancer cells to the rest of your body (In this case your CPU which is your brain and Motherboard which is your bones, also your GPUs which is your eyes.).
>>
>>51253762
if anything is giving me cancer it's your post
every single computer component gives off heat
PSU heat is the least of your worry since it won't be much and if your PSU is properly placed will go straight our your case

I went with the 380 instead of 960, kinda wish I would have gotten the 960 since the 380 is only a bit stronger and runs a bit hotter, plus the "shadowplay" equivalent of amd sucks ass and updating drivers is more annoying.

Overall it only has marginally better price per performance over the 960, but that is gonna get eaten up by the electricity bill in the long run so its not really fair to say it has a better PpP unless you are gonna ditch it within the next month or two. This is of course only a problem if you don't live in the sub arctics with an over taxed energy supply and wont notice an extra 80W on your bills.

Add some wings so your case can have better stability when you add those 3 red led 120mm fans.
>>

So the fans are overkill? Never built a pc before so I was just being on the safe side lol.

Im sure your post is bait from the build but here is it anyway.

Motherboard is cheap but not that great, will work just fine.
>Buying windows
>Home premium at that

Everything else looks fine.
>>
>>51254840
Why get that cpu and not get at least an r9 390 to go with it. Or just get an informative like $140 less
>>
>>51249199
you know your underpowered CPU comes with a cooling fan designed specifically to cool that exact processor and run within manufacturers temp specs

This is a rough idea of what I want, I plan to get parts on black friday and boxing day.

Also, I was considering swapping the 280X for a GTX 960 because it's more efficient and gets less heated, and is also cheaper.

>>

Im posting from my phone and didn't have a screenshot.

How many additional fans would I need to buy if I was to run this set-up in order for the pc to not melt?

>>
>>51255328
GA-B85M-D3H.

You are better reading this:
http://www.logicalincrements.com/

I5-4460+GTX 950 will be enough to run it at High settings, 750Ti probably will run it at High Sub 60FPS but more than 30.
>>
>>51254182
If you can get it cheap.
>>
>>51255328
Also if you want to "Join master race tier" Go for a Z97 motherboard with a better I5 CPU.

What i told you is good enough to run it at med-high settings but thats it.
>>
>>51255383
Honestly med would do for me, if it substantially brings the price down anyway
>>

>>
>>51255295
if ur gonna overclock ur cpu, i would get a cpu cooler. if ur not gonna overclock ur cpu, then get the i5-4690 without the 'k'. k just means you can overclock it but you pay a premium for that feature.

there's no real need to overclock btw. that's a really good cpu and won't be bottlenecked by any game except maybe arma 3 but that game was programmed by a bunch of monkeys.
>>
>>51255411
Also if you want to upgrade later on like you said, get a Z97 motherboard for $150 instead a B85 motherboard.

You have no space for upgrades with the GA-B85M-D3H, also no overclocking, even if you wont overclock its better to get one.

Is there anything else I need to buy, fans? OS? Also is the PSU enough for further upgrades?
>>
>>51255510
Yes, i would change the GTX 750Ti for a 950 or 960, depends on your budget but the $80 difference is worth it.

You will be able to upgrade to a different CPU later on, or right now if you want, I5-4690 and K version will get a huge discount this black friday because its popular.
I5-4590 is more powerfull than the 4460 and its just $12 more.
Case haves fans.
PSU is good enough, you would be using around 290W with that build but you will need a good powerful PSU if you want to add a real videocard later, or just a AMD videocard in general.
>>
>>51255083
$113 and $190 almost same price k
also
I guarentee it will
I've seen atleast 5 people do it
>>
>>51255598
Any idea how much my overall build will cost if I get it all on black friday, I'm not familiar with how big the price drops are? Also which 950/960 should I get, there are about 50 of em.
>>
>>51255818
ASUS, MSI, EVGA always make good cards, get the MSI 950 for $155.
Huge, like 20~30% total build discount.

Some parts get from 10% to 50% discount.
>>
>>51255818
Black Friday offers next to no discounts for internals. You might save on some peripherals, like a monitor, but otherwise just buy things the next time you see them on sale.
>>
Get a r9 290 for 219$ on newegg fag
>>

>>
>>51255985
Looks perfect.
Why that motherboard? anyway its not a bad choice, but not a good choice either.
PSU is somewhat around the limit so watch it if you add another one.

Add a 212 EVO if you want, but it should be fine without it.

at that point just get an i5 and a mobo of your chosen chipset, with an alright fractal case or something. if price is a huge factor you can go with the unlocked pentium

If you dont know how powerfull you PSU is stay away from AMD cards.

The R9 280x needs a 750w PSU.

Get a GTX 960(120w) or a 950(90w).

If you don't have a extra 6pin cable get a GTX 750Ti, will work just by plugging it in the PCI slot.
