Well, I made a huge mistake. Is there any way to uninstall (X)ubuntu and get Windows 7 or 10 back up and running?
>>
Nope, you'll have to buy a new hard drive.

unless you're interested enough to open the hard drive and override the bytes manually with a toothpick, you'll have to get a new hard drive

Is there at least some decent editing software for linux?
>>
>>51248953
editing what?
>>
Why don't you just stop being stupid and learn how to use Linux. What's your issue with it?
>>
>>51248953
lol no Linux is trash.
Enjoy your hobby OS!

Big mistake, its way worse than I could imagine

Just put your Windows disc in and overwrite your current install. If it gives you any shit (which it shouldn't) then use the CLEAN option on your disks.

Welcome the the Linux® Experience©

I have no experience with video editing.
I have heard great things about lightworks though.

Time to learn about the Unix philosophy and using single purpose tools that do one thing well and can be combined with other tools.

You're not going to find much Windows-style this-tool-does-everything-and-makes-your-coffee-too programs because most experienced Linux users are against that shit on a philosophical level.

Time to drink the Koolaid, anon

I actually think windows is better because of all the software. Linux is lacking in the department of software.
>>
>Linux is lacking in the department of software.
How will you know that if you never try out the software that is available?
It might be true and I wouldn't use linux in a work setting that requires a certain application.
But for home use (when YOU are in control and you need to accomplish a task rather than accomplish it with a certain tool) it is really great
>>
>>51249194
Linux has more software than Windows if you don't count malware. Most of the software I use either only works on Linux/Unix, or works worse on Windows because it's designed for Linux.

Windows is the one lacking in software.

>>51249010
ffmpeg, avidemux, Kdenlive, Lightworks, Nuke editing suite.
>>
>>51249282
Blender is also a pretty good video editor.

It depends on what you're doing. If you're programming anything besides games or windows server, have fun trying to get all the modern software tools working on windows.

And I honestly can't think of anything that I could do better in Windows than Linux besides gaming, and even then, there are enough Linux compatible games these days to keep me happy in Linux.

Sure, there's a learning curve with some of the software written for Linux, but once you get used to it, it can actually be more intuitive.

It's true though, gimp and inkscape is alright for basic stuff but I can't imagine myself doing professional work using these softwares
>>
>>51249468
For creative work you just shouldn't use Linux. Some programs run with WINE, but that's just masochism. For everything else Linux is fine though. Just look at the desktop threads here — people don't really seem to be doing anything else besides developing and the very basics.

yeah thats what I saw. I'm not hating on linux or anything it's just that /g/ talks about it like it's the ultimate OS when theres a lot of limitation in the professional field

I accidentally installed over my win7 partition quite a while back. At first I thought I was screwed. I didn't know how to do anything I simply installed it because it looked better than Windows. After a while I got a little used to it, using it actually stopped me from procrastinating as I couldn't game on it. When I did want to install Windows 7 again I ran into a few problems which took me more than a week to figure out, get a. iso of Windows 7 and get the universal USB installer. Using that install the image onto a USB and try that. If not you may have to extract the files onto the USB and change its type to "boot" which I think you can do from the disc manager like program on buntu. Hope this helps.

I can't imagine calling editing images "professional work".
Image processing can be done with better tools, computer vision can be done with better tools, documentation can be done with better tools.
I have no need for photoshop.

YES. LIGHTWORKS.

God friggin' dammit, do you people even google?
>>
>>51249873
>I can't imagine calling editing images "professional work".
That's because you are an ignorant idiot
>>
>>51249636
Uh, you're mistaking "professional" with "creative."
Video editing and image editing are "creative." These are the kinds of things that are best done on a Windows or OSX computer.
For the actual professionals who do work to ensure that your dumb ass can power on a computer, can connect to the internet, can check your trust fund without getting your shit jacked, Linux is the OS of choice.
>>
>>51249936
Because I outgrew making paintings with digital crayons?
What are you even doing here?
>>
>>51249986
>nobody does anything creative professionally
hey dumbass, professionally is anything you can make enough money doing to make it a profession, so get off your fucking high horse
>>
>>51248860
what was the mistake? oh, probably not choosing mint instead.
>>
>>51250018
The problem with you "creative" types, graphic designers and shit, is that you sincerely believe that you're doing society a favor by doing what you do. Like society couldn't function without you.
The fact is that you can only do the shit that you do because of the people and the OS that you think isn't "for professional work." You're taking the internet, electricity, and infrastructure for granted. You fucking idiot. Fuck your Adobe Illustrator. Fuck your glorified MS Paint skills. If you want people to respect your profession, try learning a little about why you're allowed to use the tools you use in the first place, prick.
>>
>>51249010
blender is great if you are not intimidated by the learning curve.
>>
>>51250237
>oh look I was proven wrong, so I'll just argue semantics and hope no one notices
I see right through you pal
>>
>>51250237
Society would be able to function without electricity. It's food and shelter that we need.
>>
>>51249010
Blender can do it.
