Does anyone know if those pci network cards with thin/thick ethernet connectors provide enough power to drive an xterminal or do i actully need those 70€+ converters to power an xterminal from a "modern" computer ?
explain what you mean with "power"
in case of network speed it should do just fine

power like in electricity.
network cards normally don´t transmit electricity
>>51245662
yeah i know, but, thats why i'm asking.
there are a lot of rj45 to thick ethernet adapters with power supplys, but they are fucking expensive.
so i guess a normal network card won't have enough power to power an xterminal ?

That's actually all they do. Just very little of it.
How much power does your xterminal need?
You could just get one of those cheap PoE Injectors, eg
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-1A-Wall-Plug-POE-Injector-Ethernet-Adapter-IP-Phone-Camera-Power-Supply-UK-/281559782891?hash=item418e4555eb:g:SvQAAOSw1ZBUsrBM
>thick ethernet
What is this, the early 90s?

Dunno exactly, impossible to find any documentation on it.
That would still require me to get one of those expensive converters

LMAO IS THAT COAX??? In 2015????
HAHAHAHABABABBABABA

You do know that coaxial cables are still widely used (cable tv/internet, cameras/security systems, etc ) ?
