what would be the cheapest SSD you can get?
4GB would be sufficient, everything over 4 would be GREAT.
it has to be faster than a 2007 5400rpm hitachi laptop hdd.
I want to revive an old laptop and slap a light linux version on it
I'm looking for something under 30 bucks since the laptop is almost useless anyway.
If you get a cheap SSD it's pretty much guaranteed that it will have a shit controller, which means that over time, performance will severely degrade, to the point of mechanical hard drive speeds. But since you asked, here is a list of some cheap SSD's: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&S=8000,32000&sort=a10&page=1

well I hoped there are older (ok) SSDs that are just technically obsolete and not actually just new developed shit quality.
like a ssd that was considered good in 2012 or something.
but thanks for the link!
Cheapest shit I could find when I needed an SSD was a $35 Muskin 60GB. Unless you go mini-PCIe, then you can find cheaper and smaller ones.

when I make a thread like this, of course I'm wondering about people's opinions on those cheap SSDs, maybe even their experiences with those shits. otherwise yes, I could have been googling it myself but I wanted real people opinions from /g/ and not just dry listings.
I thought this was self-explanatory.
still, thanks.
