1x 8GB ram kit vs 2x 4GB ram kit

Has dual kits much better performance over single kit?

Thinking about getting 1x 8gb kit now and upgrade to 16gb if needed.
I only have 2 ram slots on my mini-itx board.

I've read dual channel has a 10-15% performance gain over single due to higher bandwidth. You won't see any difference realistically though
>>
"dual kit" is slightly faster for benchmark purposes
in real world performance especially in gaymen you won't notice any difference

Only get the largest ram modules you can find on mini-ITX.
Single or dual channel don't matter in real world use.

The difference in performance is negligible.
It's better to go with the 1x8 so you can potentially add more in the future if you feel the need to.

Dual channel means more memory bandwidth. However memory bandwidth is the limiting factor in only a small amount of workstation related tasks. For everyday use and even gaming, memory bandwidth is not a limiting factor and so you'll see no difference.

Get 1x8. You won't see any difference between 2x4 and you'll be able to upgrade to 2x8 later, so it's much better to get 8 instead of 2x4.

Hmm, getting one 8gb ram is also cheaper if you plan to expand in the future, you only have to buy one instead of having to buy two new ones.

If your using intergrated graphics get dual kit

Is it even with an APU not noticeable? Faster memory does matter at least (+15 fps)
