I'm runnning Windows of a SSD and everything else in the machine works right.
I've downloaded the HDD drivers from Asrock and it just added an extra setting for the SATA ports in the BIOS menu, but still can't detect anything.

Is it possible that the HDD (Hitachi Deskstar 1TB 7200 RPM) is not compatible with the motherboard?..

I built a computer last year and for the most part it's been running great. But there's a pretty major problem that I've been running into over the past couple of months, and that's that I think my RAM slowly goes up over time for as long as my computer is running. When I go into the Task Manager I see that my memory is constantly running at 3.7 GB and that I have 3.4 GB available. When I check my tasks that are running it SHOULD be barely running over 1.5 GBs. I'm at my wit's end about this whole thing; looked around online, tried all sorts of solutions, yet nothing seems to work.

I've run a complete virus scan and MalwareBytes, both turned up with nothing. If anybody else has a similar problem and could offer some help it'd be much appreciated.

Hey /g/, this is the last step with building my comp. Nothing is coming on the screen when I turn it on, despite the mobo, cpu, and graphics card being powered and on. Do the things on the top of the graphics card plug into the mobo somewhere?
>>
>>50746975
No they don't, they're to potentially bridge multiple graphics cards.

Are the appropriate PCI-E power cables correctly connected to the card? (One or more 6 or 8 pin connectors)
Does the monitor work and is the cable you're using good? (Ideally test the monitor on a working computer using the same cable)
Is the cable securely connected to both the card and monitor?
Have you tried connecting to the integrated GPU instead, assuming you have one? (Video out ports on the motherboard IO rather than the graphics card)
>>
>>50747029
I've tried it on multiple monitors/with multiple cords and it still doesn't show up. Also tried the slot on the mobo, I'm going to check again on the power cords though. Could the power cords still be wrong even if the fan on the graphics card is running?

The main point of dedicated video cards is the graphics processor.

How much thermal paste should you use?

Should your error on the side of too little, or too much?
>>
>>50757236
Pea sized blob in middle, no spread. Place cooler on, don't touch for 3 months.
>>
>>50757236
the idea is to use the smallest amount you can while still covering the surface of the package (when spread by placing the heatsink)

thermal paste is less effective than metal, but more effective than air, so too little is worse than too much, but too much is still worse than just enough

How can I put my (Win7) computer in a low-power mode where it also functions as an alarm and a nice, slow, dim image slideshow?

I know enough to automate wakeups & playing a song at a specific time, it's the low-power image slideshow thing that seems tough. I'm thinking enabling a screen saver to display somehow while in hybrid-sleep or something.

I want to use regex to find each capital letter in the string "thisIsSpinalTap", and then insert a space (" ") just behind each capital letter. So, "thisIsSpinalTap" would become "this Is Spinal Tap".

I know how to match the capital letters with regex, but the insertion of a space before each match is the part I'm having trouble with. The method that seems viable to me is to get the index numbers of each capital letter, and then insert a space behind them using .splice().

tl;dr: How do I get the index numbers of capital letters matched by a regex expression?

I want to do realtime (or close to it) HEVC 720p30 encoding on a cheap VPS (5-10 USD/mo), with a provider that allows torrents. Is this feasible or do I need a completely higher tier of performance?

If it isn't feasible, how far off realtime is it? Like, if it could be half realtime, I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer.

Background: My home internet is shit (2.5Mbit). I want to write a service to run on a VPS that will quickly torrent a reasonably high-quality video in whatever codec, and encode it to ~2Mbit HEVC on demand. 2Mbit is apparently enough for decent 720p HEVC. I need a VPS that is a) from a provider who doesn't give a shit about torrenting b) fast enough to do the semi-realtime HEVC encode and c) cheap.

Suggestions?

look dipshit, just because the majority of people are retards with more money than brains doesn't mean everyone is.
personally, I don't like their business model of rebranding the same shit over and over then marking it up for profit. I couldn't give less shits about the quality of the hardware they use or the usability of OS X.

I see people line up to buy it, shelling out double, if not triple what it's worth and in my opinion, they're retarded for not doing their due diligence and researching what they're buying.

>most people don't know all that much about technology
In this day and age, with the instant availability of information, there's zero fucking reasons for not doing at least a preliminary search of what you're buying and what it should cost.
