My main server running as a hypervisor. It is my file server and manages the rest of the cluster.

I mainly use my servers as a compute cluster. I write simulation and "generative art" software for fun. Some of my stuff needs TONS of computing power, so I have 8 servers total. They're all the same, except BigXen has 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage while the rest have 16 GB of RAM and 120 GB of storage. The rest of them only come online when I need additional computing power, so only BigXen has any sort of decent uptime.

I got this stuff for cheap since a local business was upgrading their system and didn't want it anymore.
>>
>>47784008

Oh, and a VM on BigXen is dedicated to a Minecraft FTB server my niece asked me to set up. That's not very resource intensive, though, since Minecraft servers are mainly RAM-heavy and I have tons of RAM.

Using an old Mac as a server, it has good power usage, is quiet and looks good but it would be nice to have PCI-E.

The server is internet facing with a domain and runs torrents, local network share, IRC server, mumble server (what a piece of shit server) and handles all local networking (DHCP, firewall, etc.).

Random-ass laptop (ASUS K53SV) that I have no real use for. It serves as a http, FTP, Samba, torrents, and a Windows VM for fucking around and playing Kancolle in. Does the job. Probably doesn't eat too much electricity because it's a laptop, even though it doesn't have some ULP CPU. Can't be bothered to measure how much it actually draws.

Pretty much required if you set permissions for files with more than one user with windows.

Its honestly easier to just use NFS and a local dns cache.
>>
>>47788517
cached dns lookups m8. also it's good practice if you wanna be a big boy server admin someday and not a basement dwelling neet installing gnu+linux on a pentium 4 dell optiplex with an animu 2d grill wallpaper.

My server is an old laptop from which I removed the monitor because it broke anyway. I wanted it headless anyway.

It's a Core 2 Duo, don't remember the number.
It's serving me Owncloud, OpenVPN, IMAP, SAMBA and it's also for torrenting.
>>
>>47789640
Forgot to say it consumes 33W while idling.
Seriously considering a Raspberry Pi or some other low-power PC to replace it.
>>
>>47781655
I've got a SuperMicro board running with a couple hard drives. I use Debian on it.

>What does it do?
Web, email, database, Minecraft. I plan to set up another server to do Kerberos and LDAP.

>How much power does it consume?
About 30 watts.
