Chrome processes better but uses way more RAM.
Firefox lags but uses way less RAM.
Pick your poison.

Hipster retards hate on anything not outside whatever circle they've decided to belong to.
Chrome has surpassed every other alternative browser by a huge margin for a reason. It just works.
Chrome ain't light, but it's fast.

chrome = botnet
chromium = no botnet
firefox = no botnet
Chrome relays a lot of information about you and your browsing habits back to Google, and tries very hard to annoy you into linking that information to your social networking accounts. Chromium does exactly the same thing. The only differences between them are the license and the inclusion of a flash player and a PDF reader in Chrome.
They are the fastest and the lightest, though, as far as practical/usable browsers are concerned, and the most stable, and probably the most secure if having Google be able to read your mind isn't a security problem for you.
People who tell you the Chrome is a 'botnet' don't know what the word means.

Only the portion about it using more RAM is true
>Firefox lags but uses way less RAM.
>FF lags
>not flash/outside extensions
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Firefox is more lightweight than Chrome, but that isn't saying much, since it still uses way more memory than a Web browser should.
I've been using Pale Moon for the last several years. It's an FF derivative, but it strips out Australis and useless features like parental controls, so it uses less memory.
If you want to go with less mainstream browsers, Midori, QtWeb or QupZilla should be among the most lightweight choices. You just aren't going to get many features from them. I believe Midori supports some basic extensions like ad-blocking, but I have no idea about the other two I mentioned.
For Windows, K-Meleon is also a notable mention. It's based on Gecko, but I believe it uses the native Windows API to make it incredibly fast and lightweight. The downside is that you don't get any extension support, aside from a select few extensions ported by third parties.

Nigga, a clean install with only Adblock plus/uBlock lags.
The interface lags.
Switching tabs, right clicking, the menu button, scrolling.
It got really bad around Firefox 30-ish.
It's started to get better since Firefox 36, so I've switched back to it as my main browser. I can tolerate it again. But it's still there, you have to be the most stubborn, autistic fanboy to not admit this.
>inb4 lol get a noooo computah
Because by contrast, Chrome and IE are fine, they don't lag on my laptop. Only Firefox does.

Firefox on Slackware 14.1 has never been slow for me. But I'm not using that horribly bloated Windows DE, I'm using FVWM2.

There is your problem with firefox.
emerging with all cores atm, firefox still not lagging. (aurora, 31.5.3)
If you're okay with proprietary; vivaldi is a pretty obvious choice.

Firefox flash plugin always lags for me on Linux (Mint KDE). Especially on porn sites. It's fine on windows.

Well, time for you to get a new computer.
Can you help me, i need very lightweight browser which supports adblock/ublock, any recommendations?

Try Pale Moon. No Australis. I suspect Australis is really what's boggling down Firefox at this point.
As much as I support Firefox, I just can't use the main branch anymore. The development team wants too much to make it look and function like Chrome, including all the same bloated elements.

any windows good alternative?

>>47209750
No it's not. It's just another shitty Chromium wrapper. Take your shillware somewhere else.
W3m is the lightest that can still view images
Surf is probably the lightest that is still fully featured
But just use Firefox

what is the purpose of chrome?
it was not build to browse the web but for google to collect more data than just your search history.
Like a virus, the main function is hidden behind an other.
plus it's not compliant with the web standards and webkit is trying to privatise the internet.
If you like chrome, just get chromium. Chrome is hurting your privacy, but chromium hast every positive thing of chrome + open source (== not hurting privacy, you can read the code and do the math)
Here you can read more about it https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Web_browsers
