Worlds first x99 Mini ITX Mobo. Dont pretend that you are not impressed.
Full length DDR4, LGA2011v3, Dual NIC, 4 Lane msata, mini PCIe, Full 16 lanes for the x16 pcie, Sata fucking express, USB 3.1.
I want to see a monster rig in an ITX case.

Considering I had 2 of their X58 boards blow their VRMs on me, I wouldn't trust them to make a reliable X99 board.

why the fuck spend moar for an X99 if you aren't gonna load it up with 64GB RAM?
>>
>>47097062
X58 was how many years ago?
You still runnin a BFG video card?
Asrock is better than most brands these days.
>>
It's cool but it makes no sense since 2 of the 3 big draws of X99 are quad channel memory and extra PCI-e bandwidth.

Who wants to put a 140W processor into a ITX platform?
>>
A mITX x99 motherboard is kind of ruining the point of x99, but I do see the market. You do lose out on a lot of features such as quad channel ram and SLI/Crossfire x2-4, etc, though.
I still think mATX is the way to go for most small builds, as many cases meant for mITX, often take the same space an mATX build would, with the exception of silly super compact cases like the ncase m1.
I do wish there were clever super compact cases for mATX. ;ยจ; For my next build I'm probably going to end up making my own case.
>>47097004
Not really anymore. They make pretty great motherboards this time around, although they don't have a lot of overpriced high end models like Asus, Gigabyte or MSI.
>>
>>47097071
That doesn't seem like a reasonable answer but I don't know enough about it to contradict you.

Wrong, Assrock still has above average failure rates.

There isn't even a 5% performance difference between a 70$ and a 500$ mobo, you should always buy the cheapest that has all the features you know you'll use, from the manufacturer you trust.
This is one of the two parts you can save on when building a pc.
The other one is memory, however I'm not going to start talking about that because my whole post would lose it's credibility for most faggots who doesn't even hardware.
>>
>>47097108
>I do wish there were clever super compact cases for mATX
Do you know why that is? It's because mATX is big compared to mini-ITX, and you can't make a case smaller than what already exists without serious compromises. So pick your poison:
-Limit the PSU to SFX only
-ATX PSU over the motherboard, which limits CPU cooler height
-Block off some expansion slots

Those are the options, and if you're not willing to make any of those, the SG09/SG10 is absolutely as small as you can go. They look ugly as shit, but that comes with the territory since every side needs to be covered in vents due to the layout which enables it be so compact.

They likely did it because they had to. LGA 2011 is a bigger socket than 1150, and going with the narrow ILM version may be the only way they could get it to fit at all on a mini-ITX board.
>>
At least asrock is innovating. Didnt they recently also release an Extended mini ITX with 4 full sized Dimms, LGA1150 and 12 Sata ports.

Not if you want a reliable system. Yes you can afford to cheap out on motherboards if you do not want extra features like RAID support and SLI, but you absolutely do not want to go for bottom of the barrel shit either. You don't want your ports to stop working one by one or have the motherboard suddenly die on you one day (or arrive DOA)

i've been obsessing over mini ITX for a while, but im still not sure i would prefer it over mATX. Thermaltake Core v1 seems more or less perfect, apart from the fact the front fan sits beside the gpu, not in front of it. Rosewill Neutron seems great too, but seems impossible to find in the UK. annoying.

I blame 30+ year old industry standards as much as the chassis designers. No one could've foreseen that we'd be using 250W+ graphics processors on an expansion card back when ISA was drafted, and yet here we are. I can only hope some new hardware standards emerge in the next 5-10 years.
