I'm thinking of starting an IT business where I'm on call and help small business's/individuals with computer problems and shit and the only thing holding me back is this
People are fucking autistic and will ALWAYS blame me for an issue if I was the last one to work on it.

Also is this a good idea or am I delusional

But using it in addition to something like Windows Defender will catch virtually all threats.

Not to mention that "viruses" aren't really a thing anymore.

CCleaner does exactly what it says: clear temp files.

The term antimalware is just a marketing buzzword, think that viruses are a kind of malware and that Antivirus dont target only viruses, they also go for adware, worms and other kinds of malware.

>>47072915
Nope, it wont catch all, actually, it wont catch nearly anything unless its a skiddie malware, and you are right on the fact that "viruses" arent a thing anymore if you are talking about all those old viruses from the late 90s, those didnt generate the owners revenue at all. Now they focus on banking trojan botnets, that gives them a lot of money. If the malware is properly crypted, your antivirus wont do shit.

every year or so i run malwarebytes and nod to check shit - best ive gotten with em were cookies and remnants of some autostarting cancer i killed as soon as it got installed with some pirated vidya.

I did under the table IT for 3 years while I was basically homeless. I mostly worked on college student computers with major malware problems, ransomware, fixed printers, designed riggs, etc.

If you do it cheap enough and get fairly decent results, ie get a computer crippled by malware functional again people usually are fine with it.

I charged $20 an hour and most problems took like three hours max and no one ever had a problem with my services

That is literally what I do for a living. Sometimes people get pissed and start blaming me for things I never worked on (you broke muh internet!) but all you have to do is explain to them that the actions you performed are entirely unrelated to the issue they're having. Sometimes if they calm down and behave I'll just help them out with it even if I wasn't originally called in to fix it.
>>
I'm starting to think you cunts have brain damage.

I don't use Windows because i don't need anything Windows specific, but if I did i would use it the way it was intended to be used.

Set up all programs that are intended to be used daily. ie browsers with ublock or similar installed, office suites.etc

Set up effective and stringent firewall rules.

Automate windows update.

Create accounts lacking any elevated priviledges for anybody using the computer regularly INCLUDING MYSELF.
(YOU KNOW, how windows actually advises not to use root/administrator accounts for general use and has advised such since fucking xp)

Any time I need to install something I'd log in to the administrator account/enter password and suddenly I'm concentrating on what I'm doing and not blindly clicking through prompts like a bumbling retard.

Voila, 95% of bullshit can't be installed without your knowledge because it doesn't have elevated priviledges and user error is virtually eliminated.

There is a reason that GNU/Linux, OSX, *BSD all use the same strategy, because it works.

Genuinely, if you post a screenshot logged in as root in a thread full of freetards you get laughed at, but every windows user I know does it 24/7 and wonder why they have security issues.

The last thing i would ever do to anything i rely on is install unnecessary bullshit that sits in the backround and eating cpu cycles, phoning home and cataloging files all day.
