I'm not the anon you were talking to, but I use NoScript because JavaScript is annoying, not because I'm scared of it. JavaScript usually isn't necessary for using the site and needlessly uses up processing power. Most sites don't suffer from disabling it, and enabling it for a certain site that needs it is one click.
I performed an experiment for about two weeks, and I found that I get about 10% longer batter life with JavaScript disabled. So that's why I do it.
The security is helpful, too, but isn't my main reason.
