Suck a fat hairy cock you shitlord. Linux does not have commercial software and the few games that do run on it lose fps and performance heavily.

Without any applications or games to run on, its just a useless GUI that runs music and a browser with no productive or entertainment capabilities.

Eat shit faggot.
>>
>>46857585
Normal Windows 7 64-bit memory footprint in my laptop: 4,98GB.
Normal Ubuntu 14.04 memory footprint in the same laptop: 2,7GB. And Ubuntu is bloated as fuck. Imagine what Debian's or Arch Linux's memory usage requirements could be.

Any UNIX system will make a much more efficient use of the system resources than Windows will do because UNIX gives you what you need and nothing else. Windows is bloated with a lot of crap and middleware software not even Microsoft dares touching.

>the few games that do run
Steam is also on GNU/Linux.

>Without any applications or games to run on, its just a useless GUI that runs music and a browser with no productive or entertainment capabilities.
Without any application or games to run on, Windows would also be a useless -bloated- GUI that runs Windows Update and Internet Explorer. That's the most retarded claim I've heard in a long time.

Get a load of this unemployed NEET. Not everyone has given up on life. Some of us require tools and software to complete our projects and most institutions use Adobe/MS Office/CAD and others which are only available on Windows.

OSX/Linux are fucking obsolete.

There are no replacements on Linux. Wine has pathetic compatibility with Windows software.

Stop pulling things out of your ass. I have used Linux side by side Windows for over a year and tested all the software thoroughly on most of the distributions. Only Fedora is worth the time since it provides some useful development tools OOB.

You poor fool, there are over 1000 games in steamstore for linux. Most commercial software runs under Wine. Not only are you a disgrace selling your freedom very cheap. You are also unintelligent and misinformed - educate yourself

I really want to, believe me. And it's not 10 years old, it's just 4... But every time I start up Windows it does feel like it's 10 years old. On the other hand it feels like new when I boot up my GNU/Linux partition.

And if you don't care about your OS taking "just a couple" of gigabytes of RAM from you then I guess you must be one of those people who use Internet Explorer, leave the Ask! toolbar installed, use Bing and never uninstall OEM bloatware because "it might actually be doing something useful like provide a 3D visualisation of my HDD platters spinning so I can assess if they're healthy". Sigh...

My HP laptop came with Freedos by default. In the bios it shows it is a non-windows system.

It cost me less, did not have useless bloat and partitions AND I have full memory capacity. Most prebuilds have a portion of memory locked down by the manufacturer for OS that you cannot recover even by reformatting.

So you're basically a slave who lets other tell him how to live his life and how to be productive.

And also, I don't know why your boss or your lecturers not having OpenOffice/LibreOffice installed. You can easily export your documents to MS Office format or PDF...

In fact, I've written university essays straight in Google Docs and then handed in the PDF of that. No probs at all.

Is anyone waiting for mate to get gtk3 support?
>>
>>46858442
I don't like MATE, to be frank. I think it's pretty ugly and old-looking.

Just awesome WM, i3, OpenBox, etc. > LXDE > Xfce > KDE > Everything else

yeah pretty much

interfaces aren't supposed to be exciting, they're supposed to allow you to use your computer easily. windows 95 to 7 is pretty much as good as it gets in that regard.

>>46857339
debian is a fantastic distro imo
>>
>>46858485
If what you like is minimalistic UIs, any one of the ones I listed (except for KDE) is way more minimalistic. Especially if you're using just a WM and no DE at all. In that case you can go to ludicrously sober extents.

tiling window managers are annoying because sometimes I only feel like using a mouse when I'm extremely lazy

I haven't tried LXDE as much as I probably should

XFCE is being left behind with gtk2

KDE with breeze does look nice. I think I'm going to start using that.
>>
>>46858719
>tiling window managers are annoying because sometimes I only feel like using a mouse when I'm extremely lazy
awesome WM lets you select the windowing type you want for every workspace: stacked, tiled or floating.

OpenBox is floating. i3 is the only fully tiled one.

This is how debian looks now?
