Because web pages and stacking windows is better suited to a vertical monitor, also unless you have severe mental deficiencies then you shouldn't have to move your head up and down to view a screen, only your eyes. The same argument could be then made about landscape monitors with moving your eyes left to right.

As someone who's planning on building their own battle station I was wondering if any of you have any advice in how to approach it.
I figure it would probably be best to figure out everything I want to have and than simply start with a desk that can support all the things. I've been starting to read up on receivers since it looks like that's exactly what I need. I basically want to have a powerful PC, a home console for couch co-op and some specific games and have both of these things hooked up to a monitor and ideally a projector screen that I can roll down when I want to sit on the couch.

Are these things obsolete with a decent AV receiver?
