I bought a galaxy s3. Fuck this phone. And fuck Samsung.
Apart from the mediocre battery life I can't complain about the N5. It's not that interesting but at the time it was the cheapest high end android phone, and considering how shit my previous phone was it was a huge improvement.

That thing was crap. Hardly any storage space, the screen was shit and the thing was slow as fuck at anything other than the stock apps. Constantly 'resuming' apps, and the third party ones would almost never get updated.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT HAVING AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER THEN AVOID AT&T AND VERIZON.
My AT&T version of the Note 3 still doesn't have its bootloader unlocked, which means no Cyanogenmod whatsoever, and 3rd-party ROM development is basically dead (though should pick back up once AT&T decides to push the Lollipop update.)
Avoid AT&T and Verizon phones at all costs.
AT&Tfags should buy T-Mobile phones from now on. Their bootloaders get unlocked fairly quickly and the 4G bands from the phones are inter-compatible with AT&T's network.

The Nexus 5 fucking rules. It's cheap as fuck, is powerful enough, looks great, the display is really good, wireless charging is cool and it's extremely customizable.
Battery life is very average to bad though. I'm lucky to get 3 hours of SOC which I guess isn't too bad.

I love my 2013 Nexus 7, can fit it in my back jean pocket, I get 30 hours/6 hours SOT. The screen is so nice on it, I even prefer it to my G3's 2k screen.
Lollipop runs pretty damn smooth for me, I will admit I use it for pretty basic stuff though, mostly netflix.

Performance was great, but ASUS fucked up the cooler design so that the VRAM chips didn't get cooled adequately, so there was a lot of artifacting going on after a while in every game, without fail.

2GB ram, four fucking cores, and still fucking lags. They've had so many tries to get it right, and they're still fucking up. A phone shouldn't need laptop specs, and they think throwing more ram and cores will solve it.

My buyers remorse is this Samsung S5, but mostly only because it doesn't have optimal Image Stabilization. I've got a neurological disorder which causes my hands to shake so taking pictures on this thing is 100% bull shit.

/g/ likes the OnePlus One and LG G2/G3. Nexus 6 is expensive but capable. Moto G isn't good at anything besides having decent build quality and display but it's only $200 so great if you're a poorfag. One M7/M8 have nice speakers and performance but average battery life and shitty cameras. Hopefully the M9 fixed that. Galaxy Note series has great battery life and a stylus if you write notes or draw plus Samsung hasn't removed the MicroSD slot or removable battery yet.

Chinese phones are taking over. My current phone, the Oppo Find 7 is great! Almost exactly like the LGG3 but better. I've got fast charge with 0 to 75% in 30 minutes. And the screen is better than the G3s.
