I got 64GB music on it, so it serves as a nice offline mp3 player. Then there's casual gaming, checking emails, making phone calls. And 150€ aren't that expensive.
I don't find smartphones to be that expensive. They have a lot of capabilities built into one device. Phone, computer, camera, GPS, music player, etc.

I've bought expensive phones because 1. that way they're good 2. because I tend to use my phones until they break and buying a good one is the best futureproofness you can get
also my phablet replaces the need to carry around a laptop for short travel, which I'm willing to pay extra for
most of everything could be done with any 200-300 dollar smartphone but buying a big fat phablet makes it all better.
I'd probably just buy a china phone if I was buying a new one now, though, granted I'd miss some of the premium things you get by buying expensive. I wasn't aware of any of those options existing (maybe the better ones didn't yet) when I got my Note 3.

If you want a smart phone get one, if you dont, dont. i was quite late to the game with them, got my first only 2 years ago, its a fantastic device though and has meant that time that would otherwise have been wasted is now put to use, keeping up with the news, doing a little research when i would otherwise be doing nothing now means that i dont have to do those things when im sat at my actual PC and can instead focus on being more productive.

you get what you pay for, i have an M8, i experience no lag, the screen is fantastic, the battery life will get me through a day of heavy use and it feels like a premium device, my sistert has some cheap ass no brand android and everything lags, the camera is garbage, sound quality is awful, it lags when playing video and it feels as crappy as it is.

I do use that stylus a lot I actually got rid of my laptop altogether for all of daily task. Yes, no physical keyboard is retarded but I do not work in IT so it is actually less of pain in the ass to just answer messages from phone rather than move my lazy body to the PC.
Also, media consumption. Yes, including movies. At home, via MHL.
Some games, like Sorcery or Bioware remakes are also The Right Way of playing for me, thou I admit, a tablet might have been better suited for that.

Typical day starts with the phone as an alarm. Pretty sure that's standards stuff. I use it for music on my way into work, while also checking the database to see what's on the plan for the day. I get to work, double check the plans with the logistics administrator. Can't believe he got to choose his own title but that's beside the point. Then I usually get the phone number of a real estate agent and call them before going to them to collect keys. My colleague and I will then fill the car with furniture specified in the PDF in our database. We'll put the furniture into an apartment and make it look all nice like. This bit will confuse most /g/entoomen. There is a large chance that I will need to take pictures of it with my phone and send them to the customer, having a Lumia 930 is a huge advantage here. Repeat that a further two times and you have my typical work day. I will then get home and relax on the couch. I don't have TV so I rely on my phone for music while I do something more productive like bake a cake. Later on, I will probably skype my girlfriend who lives in a different country. We'll talk about he moving in with me, again. My battery will probably hit 20% at this point but I'm quite happy with that, it's a damn sight more than my iphone 5 used to last.
