Phantom Menace is going to be shit, isn't it?
fuck yes i have like a million AOL discs to throw at people in school
I can finally type quickly enough that people in AOL chatrooms don't get mad at me for taking too long to respond.
>>45348918
git gud scrub
Mommy and daddy sure yell at each other a lot.
>>45348739
Wow when I grow up I want to be a hacker!
>>45348934
Actually the year my parents split up.
holy shit downloading one porn .jpg took fucking forever on 56k but by then you were ready to explode once it finally loaded all the way
>>45348926
Yeah man. It was rough. Crazy how clear that memory remains today. It was probably some pedo or something but it motivated me to suck less with computers. And now here I am on /g/, so I guess I failed.
i don't remember much from when i was 8
is anyone else having problems with the upgraded netscape?
I totally would have wanted to bang this girl if I knew what sex was yet, but I didn't learn about sex untill 2000. Really wanted to kiss her though. But I got teased of for hanging around girls and stopped out of peer pressure.
I still think about her. One of the cutest girls I've ever seen. We were 8.
>>45348739
i live and breathe RTS games even though i am terrible at them
>>45348939
>tfw BO2k isn't invented yet
>>45348739
>Windows 98
Enjoy you're bloatware. Windows 95 masterrace.
One day I will own a Be Box
>>45348966
>And now here I am on /g/
Ha. I actually had a good chuckle.
Also, what's /g/?
We /v/ nao.
>>45349133

>>45348966

fast enough to compete in world 2 Falador.
Runescape sure was one hell of a ride.
Who else is hyped for the new Star Wars movie?
Does anyone else remember trying to use that feature on Starcraft 1 where one computer would "call" another, and I'd try to play with my friend as a kid and frantically run around the house telling my family "HEY THE PHONE'S ABOUT TO RING DON'T ANSWER IT" and then playing epic Starcraft battles only to get booted when someone else called the house
I swear these kids today don't know the struggle
>>45349153
Heck yeah! I visit theforce.net for updates every time I use the library internet computer. Man I wish my parents could afford a modern computer and an internet connection. Being poor sucks.
Also, Altavista sucks. Hotbot is what the cool kids use.
>2009 was 5 years ago
SHOOT ME
>>45349392
Yeah I used that all the time in high school to play this kid named Brian I had met over the summer. I had no idea what I was doing but we'd just fuck around on BGH. That was good shit in the pre-broadband days. Probably why I'm still so curmudgeonly about games lacking a pure LAN matchmaking system these days.
>>45348739
Oh, someone wants to see my VM again?
I'm proceeding to set up Grim Fandango, and see if it werks. That explains the "New Folder".
>>45349489
VMs are easy mode.
I've got Win98 installed on my Athlon XP 2500 with 2 GB ram and a Geforce 6600GT.
I had to limit the ram to 768 while configuring the installation and I still don't have useful 3d acceleration figured out. I'm going to see if it works any better with my 9600Pro.
>>45349489
should check out ResidualVM, an open source clone of the engine grim fandango uses
>>45349528
>GeForce
The problem with my setup is that I'm using straight up Qemu with a bash script for the settings. There's no 3D graphics card, only a shoddy virtio/SPICE implementation, meaning I can't play The Sims, so I'm doubtful GF will work at all. I'm okay with sticking to 2D games though.
I would use VirtualBox, but the Debian fags moved it to contrib, so my only other choice besides Qemu/KVM is Xen.
>>45349529
So is it a thing where I need the data files somewhere? Probably.
Year of the linux desktop
>>45349559
yea, of course
can't play the game without the game data
you can put them wherever you like though
>>45349573
just consists of the .lab files off the cd's, plus the official patch .exe
>>45349392
>
I played Diablo 1 like this though
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
MOM
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>45349567
>It's happening!
>>45349573
>>45349583
Thanks, bra.
Yeah, it just installed ResidualVM inside my Windows 2000 VM. Kinda pointless since I can't see anything because Direct3D, OpenGL or any 3D doesn't work. I'll try the generic 64-bit Linux build. Thanks again.
>>45349392
I don't remember this, probably because I had no friends.
>>45349602
>Still happening!
>>45349124
Ahh you nearly had me there for a second.
Enjoy downloading this GIF for an hour dial-up poorfags. Uploaded from my DSL connection in just a couple minutes.
>trolling shady asian websites for emulators
>not knowing how literally anything worked but eventually found a download to all the pokemon roms + working emulator
>nothing in english
man i installed so much spyware that weekend but that shit was worth it
>>45349650
Yeah, but what anime is it from?
Hi i am 12 and am building a personal website i like to spam it on top site lists
check out my shout box , leave a comment !
peace !
>>45349650
If only there was a better encoding method available...
>>45348739
>I can't wait for legos for christmas
B-but i still buy LEGO, even nowadays...
>PS: LEGO is in plural
>>45349702
when will moot implement rmvb?
>>45349607
residualvm supports software rendering
>>45349621
It's actually fluctuating.
I'm guessing people moved away from Linux in 2010 because of Windows XP / 7.
>>45349745
I ticked that and it didn't work. Trust me when I say that QEMU sucks balls for 3D. It's emulating a fucking Cirrus Logic GD5446 card.
>>45349761
>tfw Linux will never hit 2%
>>45349782
all these feels
>>45349782
>Those Mac Pro users jumping ship in June 2014 when they saw the new trashcan computer.
Lol. Look on the bright side, you're only 6 times worse than the Mac market share. And Linux dominates the mobile market.
It smells in here!
>>45349761
>>45349782
I think it's maybe 1% who are regular Linux users and the rest of the fluctuation is just people who play at it with a Windows dual boot (like me).
>>45349841
That and Linux doesn't really have a market because it is FOSS, unlike the rest. Market share probably means people that donate to it.
Need to search for something?
>altavista
Need to search for leet hax?
>astalavista
What didn't exist?
>vista
good times.
also: stickdeath, newgrounds that didn't suck, multiple awesome browser games, CON/CON/CON.WAV
>>45349106
>Upgrade
Did the Upgrade have a clean install option or was that more expensive?
IM FROM THE YEAR 2014
KILL YOURSELVES NOW
SAVE YOURSELVES THE PAIN
>>45349940
Looks like Stickdeath is still around. Says it's Stick Games now.
>>45349782
I think it had. These charts for Linux can never be representative, as most linux users don't have or refuse to install the spyware/botnet to make these.
>>45350022
Yeah, I played the games not too long ago. Still hard.
Well, not really hard. More of a 'you need to die every single way before you get it' hard.
I met these assholes dylan and eric at school today, I'm going to blow this school to hell 4/21/1999
>>45349828
>caring about the looks of their PC
Works out, typical Mac users.
>You were born in the golden year of 1991
>You grew up with a Nintendo 64
>Your parents gave you a camcorder to film shit with
>You were too innocent to no know in pic related that toad was touching a glowing, baby Yoshi's ass.
best game ever
>>45350161
>new smb u
get out of my secret club kid
I didn't bother with our PC until about 2002 when we got broadband, couldn't fucking stand dialup. The N64 and PS1 though? I was all over that shit
guys when's duke nukem forever coming out?
it's been like a year since they announced it
>>45349567
There won't be a year of the Linux desktop, at least not as envisioned.
There won't be either a single catastrophic fuck up by Microsoft/Apple/Whomever that will cause a mass exodus to Linux, nor will there be a single release of a distribution that changes everything.
The year of the Linux desktop will be, God willing, a period of several years in which Linux gets many new users.
>>45350434
Would ChromeOS taking over count as YOLD?
I won't forget the 56k connection noise till the day I die. I will also force my kids to memorize it.
As I am lowered into the ground in my coffin the noise will be played, signifying my connection to heaven.
>>45351986
>friends 9yo kid is listening to some remix thing on youtube featuring the original nokia tune
>ask him about it
