UK wants internet providers to identify who's using their connections http://www.engadget.com/2014/11/24/uk-wants-isp-to-identify-connection-users/ via Engadget Android

>>
Fuck.

Is the US headed in the same direction?
>>
Is anyone going to argue that it isn't? They have CCTV, christ.

Even in the US, we have traffic light cameras everywhere and it's not hard to believe that they can be always-on and used to spy on people. Hell, my state not only has intersection cameras, but there are various "checkpoints" that see your license plate and log all that information to some database. It's all for the children, of course.
>>

i'm actually surprised they apparently don't

I knew shit like this was only going to get worse when Cameron self-appointed his "emergency terrorist fighting powers" after the EU moved to make internet monitoring more transparent.

>>
>>45309289
My city has intersection cameras EVERYWHERE, and has one neighborhood filled with them, literally you can follow a person through the whole place.

Wanna know the funniest part? Cameras are property of a private security business which works (for now) for the local government.

Its just matter of time until this turns into a corporatocracy

Yeah, the entire arrangement is really fucked up. Have hope, though, anon. I'm in Ohio and there are many judges who are just as pissed about it as we are. They're being declared unconstitutional and have been outlawed in some cities. The issue keeps coming up in the courts and state legislatures and hopefully they'll be removed soon.

Is the UK and Sweden in a race to see which one can go down the shitter faster or something?
>>
The UK is one of the most repressive countries in Europe when it comes to internet freedom and freedom in general. You have to ask your ISP if you can watch porn (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23401076) and saying offensive things online can carry a penalty of several months/years in jail (http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/may/08/man-jailed-offensive-ann-maguire-tweets).

Not to mention the widespread spying that takes place on virtually all online activity. If anything politics in the UK is becoming more authoritarian and right wing so the trend will likely continue.

>Internet service providers currently have no business reason for holding data showing which IP address was allocated to a device at a given time

I've been worried for nothing his whole time?
IP's are just cycled between users with no log?

Are you retarded? Obama is the one who's been eyeing up Internet IDs since he came into office.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-eyeing-internet-id-for-americans/
http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/computers/item/18279-obama-s-internet-id-plot-being-tested-in-two-states

You're completely fucking retarded subscribing to the "democrat vs republican" nonsense too. If you're going to discuss politics how about you actually learn them first? Neither "side" cares about your right to privacy when it comes to the Internet. They both pretty much agree tracking what you're doing online is a good thing. The NSA isn't because of "republicans" or "democrats", it's because many of those republicans AND democrats allowed it to happen.
>>
>>45309300
It might just be a few ISPs that don't.
>>

Who cares? If you're voting "sides" you're an idiot. Politics aren't black and white and believing that you only have two choices is a huge reason why we have all the nonsense we do today.

On top of that left leaning politicians are more likely to fuck with the Internet than right leaning ones are.
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/us-news-blog/2012/may/23/anonymous-comment-ban-new-york

It is absolutely demented. I studied revolutions in University and the key factors are the breadth of support in the population, how unified those rebelling are in terms of politics, ethnicity, religion etc, the speed of the initial uprising, its proximity to institutions of power and capital cities, etc etc etc. The availability of guns is almost irrelevant. In the case of America, multicultural and politically polarized as it is, the widespread availability of guns is likely to have no effect other than increasing the amount of bloodshed between revolutionaries and counter-revolutionaries. It will have no impact on fighting the police, Army or government whatsoever.

Democrats are the worst offenders when it comes to this shit.

Also I wonder if anyone here is old enough to remember when Bill Clinton had DOJ declare softcore internet porn a felony and sites were getting door kicked daily until the ACLU filed suit and Clinton and Reno were bitch slapped down by the Supreme Court.
>>
>>45309838
Yeah, you explained it better.
>>
>>45309845
FISA actually created more barriers to the operations of the NSA in the US. The whole thing was a reaction to abuses of the Nixon era.

It has been continually watered down throughout the years.

Of course few small groups of armed dissidents will be put down easily. I'm talking about the large number of existing gun owners who can easily organize into large and decently coordinated militia, backed up by defecting LEO/military personnel. When such large groups appear simultaneously, no doubt government loyalists will be outnumbered and pressured to use more devastating firepower on their own citizens, causing even more dissent.

No he's right. They're going to pass some bullshit bill called "Net Neutrality Act" or some other horseshit name that's going to give Capcom and AT&T all the power in the world to throttle and draft new charges for the internet.

Fuck me they might even make it LITERALLY like the "Affordable Care Act" and make it illegal for an American citizen to NOT purchase internet from Capcom or AT&T. They'll call it "progressive" and say they're "bringing more internet to more Americans".

I should expand a little more upon this too: the enemy isn't the government itself. That's like fighting a war and saying your enemy is the other guy's guns.

If you want to rebel then rebel against the corporations that own the country. Stop buying their cancerous shit, stop playing their cancerous game, stop feeding their cancerous lives and eventually they will starve to death.
>>
>>45310061

Why do you think they have been pushing the concept of internet access as a "basic human right" ?

You will have your own personal case worker who will ask you about sites you visit and comments you have made.

"Anon it appears as though you researched transparent proxies on the 15th of this month. Care to tell us why?. Also call your family and let them know you won't be coming home tonight. This debrief will take a while."
>>
>>45310102
Nor me, and I just signed up for a new contract. Businesses know that nobody wants to be filtered. Downloading and porn are the biggest uses of the internet, it was just David Cameron trying to appeal to the millions of middle class voters who are too dumb to use the internet properly and want to protect their children from phantoms. It would never be implemented really. I'm skeptical that it was even a censorship move given how easy it is for the government to censor websites already.

More Americans come to Canada for healthcare than Canadians go to the America. Our healthcare system is triaged, the sickest get first care. The rich fucks that feel that their sprained ankle needs an MRI are the ones that are flying to the states for that. Obviously some cancer trials and the like are only run in the states and that is a draw for some, but for the most part people stick to Canada for their healthcare.

>the point of my post was that those actions are exactly the ones that make you fit into the state's definition of a terrorist. Therefore being able to be legally and legitimately (for the majority at least) prosecuted, tortured, and maybe even killed.
As a citizen, if the law is wrong, you have a moral right to stand up to it.
Of course, you should not be an idiot and get yourself arrested or caught breaking the law, that would be counter-productive.

My point was that your definition of who's a terrorist and who's a victim might be getting a bit skewed if you only listen to one side.

>That was also the point of my post, that is why i say you are fairly autistic, because you are arguing me with my same point...
Then, that's not autism. That's sleep deprivation.

I simply disagree that learning infosec and building things makes you a terrorist.

The NHS is a bastion of healthcare. You don't get the best healthcare in the world, but you get good healthcare, reliably.
>>
>>45310783

It doesn't matter who YOU think a terrorist is. The only thing that matters is who the people in charge think a terrorist is.

Keep drinkin' that Kool-Aid, Kid!
>>
>>45310803
It does matter, surely you have some sort of morale, a sense of right and wrong, don't you ?

Of course if you get to the point that the people in charge have to label you, it's a bit late to think about that, and then we do agree. But let's assume you can maintain good OPSEC.

>UK wants to make sure people know they're doing it.
>US does it anyway and tries to hide it.
>Land of the free, KEK.

More like

>UK has been doing it, but wants to make it legal to use in (secret) court.
>US does it but uses FISA Courts

Both are police state shitholes.

>That goes for you too, a lone gunman (sorry for the men part) is a smart person with enough resources that can cause the same or more damage than a group. Therefore you can be a terrorist all by yourself, no need of being legion.
once again, what's your point?
I'm not a US/UK citizen, is not my interest to stop corruption there or to subvert your govt or whatever... it's YOUR job, as a US/UK citizen. you are the one interested in stopping this authoritarian trend, not me. I'm only giving ideas, and you bunch of cowards keep denying them. fine, then, wait for some magical entity to do it for you...
>>
>>45310783
Hehe, well they are kind of alike in cognitive dissonance, i'll give you that.

Yep, i get your point, i don't even think something as a 'terrorist' objectively exist.
>>
>>45310857
i'm south american. My point is this stuff shouldn't be posted about in 4chan of all places.
>>
>>45310884
>i'm south american
>>
>>45310884

>i'm south american

I'm sorry that you live in a country where the government will literally murder you and burn your body if you voice any kind of dissent.
>>
>>45309793
Former military here. You'd be surprised how deep seated the revolutionary sentiment is in the armed forces. After all, our oath is to support and defend the Constitution, not the schlubs in government.
>>
>>45309760
You clearly have no idea of how welfare states function. And your priorities seem irrational brainwashed
>>
>>45310923
>our oath is to support and defend the Constitution
Then you're doing a shitty job.
The constitution has been shat on from such a great height that your swore an oath to a pile of politician crap with a valuable set of papers underneath.

chupala
>>45310918
Well, its great to give you some kind of output on the possible directions your own countries may take.
>>
>>45310945
>welfare states function
They don't function. There shouldn't even be any "welfare states" anyways. If there's some useless fuck being retarded, it shouldn't be on everyone who isn't retarded to help them stay retarded.

>m-muh stumpy veterans

I disagree, I doubt Best Korea had a domestic intel apparatus anywhere near as capable as the FSB
>>
>>45311347
NK is literally 1984, they don't need any domestic intel, most people don't even have free will.

When's the last time you rolled up a terrorist cell?

You're fucking retarded
>>
>>45311247
