Why does the NSA consider Linux Journal to be an extremist publication?
On July 3, 2014 ARD revealed that XKeyscore is used to closely monitor users of the Tor anonymity network, people who search for privacy-enhancing software on the web, and readers of Linux Journal.

XKEYSCORE (abbreviated as XKS) is a formerly secret computer system first used by the United States National Security Agency for searching and analyzing Internet data it collects worldwide every day. The program has been shared with other spy agencies including Australia's Defence Signals Directorate, New Zealand's Government Communications Security Bureau and the German Bundesnachrichtendienst

>Why does the NSA consider Linux Journal to be an extremist publication?
Because they did a shitty job of automatic classification. Nothing I've read suggests that was an intentional decision, it sounds more like a fuck-up.
Which scenario is scarier, I'll leave up to you.

Because Linux is Free Open Source Software.
Open source which means not centralized which is what the government fears.
They fear what they can't control which is why they're trying to create their surveillance state.
People in power are 99.99% likely to be a complete piece of shit control freak.

stop ignoring it
Because Linux people have a chance to be free-minded. Common, it's obvious: they do that to make sure no one using linux and ~POSSIBLY~ having moral and such things to work at NSA and whistleblow any info, like Snowden did.
Windows and Mac have backdoors which NSA can exploit to get ppl by the balls. Linux don't. It's all about make sure the free minded people don't pass unnoticed by NSA filter.

wouldnt they get that from the headers of the internet traffic though? I mean the initial transmission headers contain operating system type dont they? Every website can determine what operating system you are running so it can determine how to send the data packets
