Not bad, for me it was like I get to the point where the code is working and get to stop without having to really clean it up and add tests. (Its just a Proof of Concept after all) The customer interaction depends on the product some but is usually just being excited about teaching people about the product and actually knowing your shit when someone asks you a technical question.

The only thing is being able to be diplomatic to customers that are angry or difficult. "Why doesn't the product to this? I don't like this interface" That being said the sales people deal with most of the crap.

I mostly program in C++ but I've touched Java and Python a bit before. Most proficient in C++, which isn't saying much considering how complicated that language can be.

It's an interesting job. We just moved all of our research systems (hundreds of machines) to a new power and cooling infrastructure. It was a 1.5 day outage to do that. I did all the tech work of that by myself since my colleague was at Super Compute 2014.
