>ITT /g/ makes Art
Made a API for the Artmaking process, doubt anyone will use it but it's a nice excuse to get my Shia on.

How do you goons create?

https://theblackbox.ca/
>>
So.... it generates an oil painting based on your code?
>>
>>55285503
I sometimes make javascript functions that randomize shapes and colors. Care to elaborate on that API?
>>
>>55285600
Kind of, The contents of the painting are generated from whatever the user decides to submit. Collage is one of my preferred methods, and I use its techniques in most of my work. Not necessarily slicing and reordering the originals, but working with them. This isn't algorithmic art!

>>55285601
I like that, how have you used it? The API takes arbitrary arguments, an address and payment. A few months later a work shows up. This project is simply an abstraction around the art making process. Regardless of any other reasoning/artistic merit/bullshit, this API makes paintings appear.

This is some next level hipster shit.

Well, I can't criticize I'm nowhere near as good with a computer as you OP.

You're damn right it is, but criticize away. That's why it's here after all. It's written in Go and hosted on App Engine, Bootstrap for the basic bitch site, Stripe on the backend for payments. Just a few hundred lines of code to deal with the API, a admin console and email shit. Uses GCS for hosting, it's not that complex yo.

>>55286431
They are next to useless (as far as the degree itself is concerned), but the knowledge and perspective is goddamn life changing. The other day I lost my shit because there is a logic behind Shia wearing a paper bag on his head, it isn't just mentally unstable bullshit, it's reason.

What the fuck would /g/ slap into a machine that spits out paintings? I've already had a guy try and own my site with some php scripts (People still use PHP?) so thats a good one, why not your folder of our one true lord and saviour RMS? Turn him into a sacred icon, fit for your battle station.

What the fuck would /g/ slap into a machine that spits out paintings?

do you remember those threads we had years back where someone would open up a port to a networked printer and tell /g/ the IP?

turns out it's a lot of porn

I'm not oldfag enough for that, but I love it.

I need to find a line printer now, and a giant stack of that connected paper. Hook it into Twitter/Google Alerts and try and squeeze some feeling out of the torrent of text. Like ( http://wefeelfine.org ) s API.

Is it deterministic?

here's your response

To an extent. There is a process, and I execute it. Given the same inputs and no context similar outputs will be generated. These are dialogue over time, so the context will evolve. It's more then simple process art/algorithmic art generation but it's seeded from the idea.

We did tons of process art in the 90s, came off very dry. BlackBox is more then machine, less than human.

So as deterministic as a personified algorithm can be.
>>
>>55285503
Anyone got any examples of art produced from this?
>>
>>55288025
Nope. It's opaque until you investigate!

But we did make the frontage of Hacker News. Fucking rights.

Dear god fighting a swarm of HNers is exhilarating. My service just took a huge 503 steamer due to quotas. Just got it running again and now I'm dead as fuck.
