Hay /g/, I'm interested, can you build a computer that runs on Double A batteries?

A typical laptop battery has around 60 wh

Assuming you wire them properly to end up with the input voltage a laptop requires, you can potentially power a laptop for a few hours with 15 AA batteries.

There is a reason they have rechargeable batteries.

The capacity of alkaline batteries is dependant on the discharge rate. Spend the extra money and get the "for high powered devices" lithium type, if you're actually going through with this stupid idea.

ESP8266 can be programmed with LUA and it has Wifi for <$3, runs on 2 AA batteries

First thing that came to mind. Runs on 2 AA batteries. There's also that asia-exclusive thinkpad that runs on 6 AA batteries.

Easiest but a bit dangerous would be to just connect them all in series to get 100v+ so with 100 1.5vs in series youd get 150v and provided your psu doesnt have active pfc or anything of the sorts it should run just fine off of dc allowing you to just plug it in.

This TRS-80 Model 100 ran on 4 AA batteries, I believe it was the first 'Notebook' computer.

Yes, you could get a Raspberry PI and power it from 4 AA batteries.
Not a good idea, but possible, it would be a much more better deal to just get a $3 chinese powerbank and attach it to the PI

I have an old 2009 laptop that I power with 3x 12v 7ah SLA battery's in series and a homemade buck converter set to 19v, works flawlessly. But I only do it because I don't have the AC adapter and the laptop doesn't require a 3 pin "smart" charger.
