It doesn't really tell the whole story. He's not talking anything about feet position, shoulder - elbow - knee line, weight on foot etc that make the positions..

Also other question. I find it pretty weird how klokov teaches the snatch. Nobody at my oly gym is doing them like that (when he passes the knee he straightens his legs, gets to toes kinda early and then slides). Most of the lifters at my gym kinda just get fast to the power position, and from there explode brutally, and drop fast under the bar so their feet get pretty high in the air. A bit hard to explain, i hope somebody understood.

Don't wanna be a cunt but Jon north does online programming and seminars. How did your coach 'train under' him? It sounds like your coach is using a name to sell himself. He might be a good coach but that sounds like a dodgy credential.

Also you can't really just say 'bang with hips vs slide up legs' there's a lot of lifters who slide the bar up legs and still bang the bar out and likewise a lot who's snatches come right into the hip crease without much leg contact who have a very neat and close bar path

Clean deadlift if you need positional strength for the clean. Remember the first pull is actually initiated with legs don't lift it all with your lower back or it'll feel heavy and put you on your toes

I don't like the Klokov tutorial. Not only is K himself not a very good model for demonstration given his atypical set up etc, but his instructions are confusing and potentially misleading. There are some cues Klokov gives that might be helpful (MAXIMUM etc) but everything else I'd disregard.

Because US networks don't air weightlifting so it hasn't gotten much popularity, thereby decreasing government funding for olympic athletes. I read an interview once (don't remember who or when) claimed that he got $250k funding from government while the swimmers got $2mil per athelete -but don't quote me on this, maybe I didn't understand clearly. Crossfit has increased the popularity and participation yes but the average person getting into crossfit even if they're very talented is generally already in their 20s or even 30s. Maybe their kids will get into lifting early but I think there is yet to be a real surge in talent as a result yet.

Crossfit has done a lot for the sport actually. We have more people performing the olympic lifts and competing that (dare I say) ever. The The popularity here is rising but it is hard to keep people compelled because it is not as exciting as a lot of other sports we have. The money isn't in a weightlifting competition, so Reebok and other sponsors wont put their full financial backing behind it. See Olympic lifting more as a small fish riding the current that is Crossfit for as long as it can.

It is a weightlifter wiki, primarily devoted to listing all of the great athletes in this sport, their achievements, lifting style and training methodologies. You will be able to search for weightlifters by nationality, weight class, their level, height, lifting style, methodologies, etc.

This is a project me and some others will be pursuing. I think you may have misunderstood my post, or perhaps vice versa. In a front squat, your torso is upright because the barbell is resting on your delts. If you lean forward, one of two things may happen. The bar may roll off your delts and onto the floor, meaning you lost controll of the bar, or it might break your fingers if you don't bail out properly. It appears that he leans forward abd allows the bar to fall into the rack in an uncontrolled manner. What he should have done was remain upright throughout the racking proceds, approached the rack and in a controlled manner, lower the bar into the rack.

So guys, I really want to learn because I haven't been trying hard enough. There someone else that my coach coaches who already has like a 55kg snatch and 90kg squat after a few months.

I was really trying but just never got anywhere, for example, my coach taught that in a snatch at the start position, I should be very far over bar and sitting at the bottom with chest up and back arched with no tension since my hip crease is below knee.

However, my legs are long as fuck so it's hard to move them out of the way and I see videos of people saying that I should get very tight at the start, even with hips higher than knees? Which is it?

You don't have to squat your best numbers to keep them progressing.

If you are a beginner its better to go with a static start rather than dynamic. So yeah, get tight and your hips should be over your knees, or nearly at the same level as your knees depending on leverages

Watch cal strength, klokov and alexey torokhtiy (i can't remember how you spell it) videos, and combine all of them to get a better vision about those lifts. There are many ways to teach / do them

I know you guys shit on cal strength but I just watched David(?) snatch and realised it's pretty slow and controlled but very fast as soon as it contacts him. I have been pulling it very fast from my knee to my hip to make contact which I see now was the wrong place to be fast and maybe why it was always going around me instead of me going around the bar.


My tech is pretty shit right now so I'm really working on it and dropped weight until it's flawless.

I just squat and press for my strength right now. Just for comparison, I am unsure of my FS max but it's about 120kg or something and my BS is 150kg. I am only snatching 30kg and cleaning 50kg right now with mediocre technique so I really want to focus on it.

I don't recommend it, you just build bad habits and sooner or later start to get frustrated / lose interest. Its better to have few quality sessions a week when you're beginning.

do strength movements 3-4 times a week. in a very loose order of importance that should include push press, squat (front and back), pull (snatch and clean grip), and presses.

if you really focus, study your lifts, have a good eye, and have a goal for every training session, you could be lifting 100/120 within a year or two.

you should load up the bar and see how your classics look with more weight every once in a while, it's hard to pinpoint or reveal issues using very light weight.

wait, did you mean your maxes are 30/50 or that's what you're using as your light weight to practice technique?

Jumping is INEFFICIENT.

Think about it. You're raising your center if mass which is converting your muscular energy into gravitational potential energy. When your feet hit the floor, all that energy invested by raising your mass is wasted (but it makes a cool sound hehe).

So in ideal technique, your center of mass doesn't raise when you extend, and as much muscular energy goes into the bar as is possible.

Plus, in raising your center of mass in theory you'll have to do more work when you pull under since you have to lower your center of mass more.

Tl;dr, it's inneficient lad.

Yep doing those right now. I meant they are my 'maxes' that I can do over and over. I can do 30x3 or 30x1 but never higher for 1. Maxes due to very bad technique, not strength.

Depends lad. You'll have to learn to do the full lifts sometime though, best not to postpone it longer than you have to.

Simplest way though is: If you feel you need to split it up, do it. If you don't, don't.

e.g. if the first pull throws off your extension, probably a good idea to isolate them desu. If it's np though and you just suck all around, don't bother.

Probably best rn to isolate them I think. Thinking about too much stuff to fix in technique at once will probably fuck uo even he best lifters.

I am a noob and for some reason I cant transfer the force to the bar, I have no idea why. It either bangs my legs and doesn't move anywhere or it brushes my legs and barely moves up at all.

How do I transfer force so that the bar moves up/floats? I'll get a vid, but tips are appreciated.

You don't know how to get under the bar. Its typical for beginners, you try to pull the bar up rather than get under it.

Try this tech exercise:

Rise on toes and pull the bar up, like you would at the end of clean / snatch pull. From this position, drop / slide your feet and pull (more like drop in this situation, because the weight is so light) yourself under the bar.

Dude, when i was learning, we had 1 or 2 sessions a week, and i learned well. I think its better to relax and take it slow. If you go nuts about tech at the beginning, your journey won't last long. Its a loooooong (endless) journey to have perfect form. Give yourself time, and you will have more energy to really learn and see what's there to fix. Also, you don't have to fix everything at the same time. My coach focused only on 1 or two things a session.

But yes, definitely break the lifts to parts. First start from power position, this will take many sessions. Then start from top of your knee. Again, many sessions. Lastly, start from the floor.

Yeah I will try to break them apart until they are much better at each position. I'll get a stick and go through them very controlled. I have read some articles like Dan Johns about how he wished he was more patient and used a stick for months instead until it was flawless with a stick. Mine isn't.

I don't think you can learn with the stick, since its TOO light. I have a good clean grip, but i can't do it with a stick since its so light. It won't rest well on shoulders because it doesn't weight anything, and you can't really learn to "slam" it like a empty barbell and have the sound as feedback. You won't learn to get tight, push shoulderblades / engage lats and so on, because its air. And you can't put any energy to stick, like you would on a barbell.

Guys, new to Snatch here, getting a problem:

When Overhead squatting I can't get parallel without heel coming up. This isn't an ankle problem as I go ATG for every other squat I do.

Is this a balance thing, shoulder thing? Anyone else done this?

Every page except the one for Pyrros Dimas currently has no text, and only an infobox with a photo. One way you could help is by doing some writing for those pages. References would be greatly appreciated but are not required (I hope to have all the claims on the site validated someday).

We also definitely just need more pages for weightlifters. So please feel free to create new pages following a similar format to the ones for other lifters. Include a nice photo, relevant information in the infobox, correct categorization and text. In addition, we don't want any random lifters on this page. e.g. no "Matt King" page or "Isaac Deliuge", that's not really acceptable. However, a page such as "Mattie Whore" or whatever her name is would be acceptable, since I believe she competes at least on the national level and she is very well known on Instagram and the internet in general.

More reputable, perhaps. But there are no websites that act as a compilation of information on every significant weightlifter. Wikipedia is just not up to par. You must also realize that a Wiki does not exist itself to provide quality information, but to reiterate quality information in a more concise, easy to search format. Not only reiterate, but compile it to create an overview. The result is a site where you can gather information on weightlifters in considerably less time, and view in a way more friendly to the eyes. If you're not satisfied with the information? You view the references. You want more detail than what was provided? Check the references. There isn't a reference? Take the information very lightly.

How do you define fake? It LOOKS like a Wiki. It FUNCTIONS as a wiki. It has ads unlike some other wikis (but this is not universally true). It is only superficially different than some wikis, and I see no problem with that. If it's functionally the same, how is it different? Also note that this is only TEMPORARY. It's set up in the meantime. We actually have some funding coming our way to set up our own personal URL and a non-cookie cutter Wiki that we own. When that time comes, which shouldn't be too long, all the pages will be transferred to the new wiki.

Most people have ad blockers these days. Clearly you don't. This setup is only temporary as well. Viewing ads are the price you pay for quality information, or any information really, these days. I can't argue against this too much though, I'm not a fan of ads myself, but the ads ARE for a good cause.

The point is not big weigtlifters, really.

The point is less well know lifters. An example I forgot to include in previous lost is Zlatan Vanev. Well known, but proper information is VERY scarce on the net and hard to get, if not impossible. For example, many sources say he is 185cm tall. However, this is definitely not the case. We have actually contacted a person who worked with Zlatan and he will provide a satisfactory answer.

Already, there is unique information on the wiki that cannot be found elsewhere. Information that would involve watching through hours of videos and interviews. Not only that, but discussions that don't really exist elsewhere on the internet, at least not to the same depth, such as training methodologies and more subtler details that make be overlooked.

I just don't think you understand the scope and true goal of our project, and for that I pity you Anon faggot.
