I feel like they can't be good for your wrist.
I'm 225 lbs and can do like 15 body weight dips when I used to do them.
Then I tore a ligament in my wrist.
After, I cut out both dips and forearm isolation exercises.
Never had the problem again but I don't know which caused the tear.

you're probably doing them wrong, try having the bar as close to undernieth your wrist as possible.
The closer to your knuckles the more strain on your wrist joint

I do them with 2 plates.
They are very good for lower chest and triceps.
Don't go lower than parallel or you'll hurt yourself.
