If you feel self-concious I'd suggest bodyweight workouts at home for a few months. You don't need to do deadlifts and barbell squats right off the bat.

Jesus, i see 15 year old skellies, 50 year old fatties, bodybuilders and fat-ass housewives in my gym. You know what, no one cares. Just go there, do you workout and nobody will care if you are there because, guess what: everybody just fucking cares about himself. Just behave normal and you'll be fine.
