So it's 2015+1

Do we all agree that natty bulking is literally a meme?

Considering how slow muscle builds there literally is no benefit to getting chubby right?
>>
There's no benefit of getting chubby period, whether natty or roiding.

Go on a caloric surplus while eating clean. It makes cutting easier as well.
>>
>>35485366

If you try to build at maintenance or a very slight surplus and fuck up and undereat it will hinder muscle building
>>
If you're ever "chubby" you're doing it wrong, regardless of natty status (assuming you want to look good).

"Bulking" should mean "start at 8-10% and bulk up to 10-12% before cutting".

It should not mean "eat like a fucking pig and get up to 25% while lying to yourself about how much muscle is hiding beneath your fat rolls".
>>
>>35485366
If you're a skinny skellington you can bulk at 1-1.5 lbs per week and not look chubby for half a year or so.

there is no reason not to do this since the extra fat on top of your bigger muscles only makes you look better.
>>
Bulking is for retards.

Just eat at a small surplus on lifting days and bring it down/add in cardio on non-lifting days.

Stay lean all year round.

What the ever living fuck is point of getting past 15% BF (and hopefully not even that)?
>>
>>35485384
>eating clean
Literally does not matter.
Just make sure the surplus is in the sweet spot of 200-300 calories. Cardio changes a receptor balance to burn and prevent fat gain (refer to Lyle mcdonald ph.d for more) so do that too, HIIT if you can.
Aim for a gain of a half lb a week or 2lbs a month. Anything above that rate as a natty is basically guaranteed fat.
>>
>>35487885
>1-1.5 lbs a week
Read this >>35487961
You would be putting on a half lb of lbm a week with a half lb to a full lb of fat. There are absolutely downsides to that so don't listen to this guy. Aim for a gain of a half lb a week (2lbs a month) always. Extra fat gains will just lead to a longer cut which is time that could be spent making gains.

Worked for me.
>>
>>35487984

Bullshit. If you're 5'10" and 130 lbs you could absolutely bulk up to 165 over 6 months and look great naked and in clothes. Way better than 142 lbs at your rate.

thats only b/c youre so skinny to start as.

honestly im 5'10'' and 180lbs and im restraining from eating like a strongman because I KNOW as a natty there is only a certain amount of muscle i can build weekly... feels bad. I want to get strong and bigger but such is the natty life

You went from skinny to skinnyfat curlbro.

Bravo, retard.
>>
>>35488113
firstly, relax with the attitude faggot.

secondly, fuck you

lastly, whats up? hows yoru bulking going?
>>
Yes, natty bulking is pretty much a "meme". There's never any benefit to getting chubby, and if you do get chubby, you're bulking wrong. If you eat clean, and only exceed your caloric needs by ~500, you should be able to put on mass at a reasonable rate (15 pounds per year if you're a beginner), while still staying lean.
And cardio never hurts!
>>
getting fat is for subhumans
there is literally no reason to do it under any circumstances

Reverse progress. Big arms aren't worth a gut imo, it's so unattractive.
>>
>>35485366
Yes, it's a fucking bro science meme created by protein companies to make you think eating insane amounts of protein is essential to muscle growth.

Bulking as a natty: welcome to total fatass land
Cutting as a natty: say goodbye to whatever minuscule muscle gains you had
>>
>>35488181
>eating insane amounts of protein
and
>bulking

are separate things
>>
>>35488181
You are absolutely bulking and cutting wrong if you're getting those results. Bulking does not mean eat yourself fat and cutting does not mean simply eat very little.
>>

Not the real one.
>>
>>35487778
>"start at 8-10% and bulk up to 10-12%

Literally the zone of nogainz. If your max is 12%bf, you will spend most of your training time 'cutting' or attempting to while just spinning your wheels.
>>
>>35488063
How does that make anything I said bullshit? I didn't say you wouldn't still look fine, I said it is a massively inefficient use of your time and your short term impatience will have consequences in the long term. Stop being a retard and fucking do it right.
>>
Cutting fat is so fucking easy though, why not just make actually eat enough most of the time and actually put on some size?
>>
>people on /fit/ think nobody anywhere has successfully gained weight

Did dudes not play sports in your high schools?
>>
>>35485366
It's a matter of priorities I guess. If you don't care about being lean and only want to see big numbers, bulking works. For health, aesthetics, and bodyfat%, careless bulking is a disaster. As a natty, you can build like 3 lbs of lean muscle per month max. If you eat a 1000+ cal surplus everyday and gain 20 lbs in a month, you shouldn't really be proud because you just gained a ton of fat and barely any muscle. If you are above BMI 17 and eat over a 500 cal surplus natty, you're just gonna get fat and have a hellish cut if you decide you want to look lean.
>>
>>35487996
Bruh flex the gut, by flexing up and in, angle the light source directly above you or slightly to the side to get better definition and put the camera slightly below you to make yourself seem taller/bigger.

Pull your shoulders back slightly more and flex slightly hard on your biceps, turning your wrist as well.

Go take another pic doing that, you'll look a million times better bro.
>>
>>35488063
You're an impatient fuck who will get fat and develop poor eating habits that way.
>>
>>35488254
To add on, flare your lats while doing the above.
>>
You guys know you can have visible abs and still be mid-teens bodyfat, right?

So say I'm currently doing SS. And I follow this diet advice. What does this mean for my strength gains? I would imagine progress is gonna move real slow once I get passed the CNS gains stage.

I'm currently nearing my sixth month of SS and started at 73kg. Been cutting since I started and I started eating around maintenance~slight surplus since December. Never hopped on a bulk. My question is, should I stick to SS even though I'm already ignoring the basic idea of eating at a big surplus? Or should I move on to something like PHAT or a PPL?

Pic related is 5 months on SS while eating at a deficit.

Current bw. 68kg 5'6"
3x5 squats 105kg
3x5 bench 57.5kg
1x5 deadlift 95kg (best I can do with proper form. Back rounds like a motherfucker the moment I touch 100kg. Poor spinal erectors?)

sorry I get mad, wish I had heard my own advice earlier is all

fell for "clean gains" a couple years ago and made terrible progress for so long. very frustrating. switched to eating +500-600 surplus and life has been so much better the past few months.
