I'm starting my own business making poster frames out of repurposed wood from barns and restoration jobs. The frames are easy to make with my tools, and I'm getting a mat cutter Monday. Do any of you have any techniques you like to use?

Buy a framing point driver and save yourself the time and misery of doing it any other way. Also use wire and screw eyes for hangers instead of those shitty saw tooth things.

Holy shit I hate those. My sister asked me to come over and hang some 40 lb mirror and it had them. I was like 'nah I'll be back', immediately went to the hardware store.
Pricier but for fucks sake anything that holds sentimental or monetary value that will be only display needs UV protection. And ideally archival matting, acid free at the very least.
I work in a corporate chain frame shop and the shit I've seen happen to beautiful photos and paintings after a few years without that protection... yikes. People get passed out stuff is pricey when they're unfamiliar with custom frame costs and I'm like, listen, we don't even carry glazing without UV protection. Go cut corners with the off-the-shelf frames.
