I mean, I certainly admire the level of skill on display but between the name and the pretentious "everything I need to know about filmmaking I learned from Vimeo and community college" cinematography and narration I find this pretty insufferable.

Way more often than not he's just talking bullshit about other people's technique while not being that far above them. His presentation certainly isn't there.
I thought I'd like him and subbed after the dovetail and stone sink, but every video since then hasn't been worth watching.

Nice bench, very similar to the one Mom made for her workshop. Simple to make and I have been told it is a more flexible layout for general work if you aren't sure what type of work you are going to do.
As for these details and beauty, every real craftsman carpenter has at least that level, as it is largely just tacking some extra time and caring about the work. I would hesitate to call it common, but it certainly is not rare, more so if you know where to look.

I don't know what he is charging, but a solid and complete tutorial of high quality is honestly worth $10 or $20.
But it better be reasonable complete because the one that sell in piece meal are just driving up the price, and that is a scam in my opinion.
Granted if one actually did their homework they could learn more for free, but you pay of connivance not the information.

He's one of my woodworking Youtube heroes 2bh. A high end carpenter that gets shit done. People just get hung up on the 'ego' and can't see that he means well. Nothing wrong with some playful bragging if you can back it up.
That said what other anons said about video presenting is true.

And you know what a Diresta video is like when you see it. Both very distinct.
It feels like the Samurai is still trying to find his own video 'formula' so to speak. Hope he ditches the cornball music or finds somebody willing to give him something better.
