What's a reliable, homemade heating pad?

I keep seeing sock with rice, and I've tried that, but I'm scared it will burst into flames one day, it had been browning after some use

I really want something that has good transfer to the skin, so I can get it hot and wrap something around it for insulation and keep it warm for awhile

Hot water bottle. They are a specific thing different from just a 'water bottle' filled with hot water.

rice in pillow case in microwave will also work.
but yeah, just get a hot water bottle

I recently fucked up my thumb and used 2 cups of rice in a sock. Nuke for 1 minute. Rice isn't going to burst into flames OP and it's cheaper than buying a hot water bottle.
