Does it need to be 1300? Will 1200 do? I only ask because ply will be your cheapest option, but it comes in 1200 or 2400 length. If you can get away with 1200 then you can make two desks per one sheet of ply.

How stable do these tables nee dto be? Are they for display or working on?

They will be for a software company garage start up, so for computers, but I would still like some stability.

Thinking of a piss pine box frame although don't know the best layout for it.

Back in high school we would use those at lans with the typical heavy shit on top and the screaming and table banging.
They're plenty stable, with lots of surface, and will look better than raw ply.
