hey /diy/!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience creating the same sort of "solid-bar" effect that you get on voice coils on the actuators on hard drives?

I am thinking about maybe using epoxy to bond the coils together (i am slightly nervous that it may damage the insulation on the enamelled wire) and am also unsure whether to coat each layer or just the outside.

Of course i will probably try a few combinations but am just curious if anyone has tried something similar and if so if they had any hints or tips as my google-fu has failed me on this occasion.
Thanks!

place coil in container of coil varnish
pull vacuum on container
keep under vacuum for 10-20 minutes
release vacuum
remove coil
bake on low or allow to dry naturally

should add:
coil varnish (dope) should completely cover coil
(full immersion)
