Just gonna dump some pics of making my first guitar body
first router experience now...
sawed the neck pocket and bridge tuner cavity from front half, contouring with a rasp while the glue dries...
used hammer and chisel to lower the bridge just the right amount for my string action
primer
(I used all spray paints, never again)
light tack coat...
Rustoleum took forever to dry before adding the spray polyurethane
went with strap locks so I could just use my same strap
I'll rout out for an internal Gk-3 hex pickup, rather than the external I already had laying around, if I do anything else to it...
...really happy with the weight balance of the headless design, the comfort of the body size/contours, and the feel of the old Ibanez saber neck I had lying around though.
might be cool

Those backward, or whatever you call it, head stocks are cool as fuck.
Are you happy with the contour? I'm thinking of adding a very small one to my tele compared to the huge contour you find on strats. How did you draw the outline for it?
>>1020502
Thanks, I just sawed the head off a neck I already had
>>1020503
Very, I didn't mark it, just went at it with a wood file until I liked it
>>1020480
Don't know how advanced you are, or how into building guitars you are, but have you happened across Fletcher's custom guitars on YouTube? Dude's a pro, and his shop/techniques are set up for that, but he does some stuff that all woodworkers could benefit from. Looks good, OP.
>>1020480
Nice man, paint designs and post pics
>>1020496
I'm liking the Danelectro there buddy, very nice
Where'd you buy the parts that allowed you to have an inverted neck?
Also, what kind of pickups are those? This build as a whole has me asking so many questions, although I absolutely love it.
>>1022073
The pickup OP used is a Roland GK2 Midi pickup, I'm assuming OP built this just for playing synth guitar.
>>1020480
Where did you get the headless tuner? Did you order it off Aliexpress? I'm currently planning to build a headless bass similiar to pic related.

>Midi pickup
I've been looking for midi guitars when I should have been looking for midi pickups
damn
thanks anon
>>1022076
If you want a cheap guitar/bass to midi solution look up Sonuus i2m(usb output for pc) and g2m(direct midi output for hardware), OPs pickup is only for special guitar synthesizers which are kinda pricey, so that pickup would be worthless without them.
op here, it's a roland gk-3 pickup, I use it with my gr-55 (I want a vg-99 eventually... and to route space for the internal version of the gk-3), it can also control all the sounds on pictured mininova synth including vocoder stuff. The bridge with tuners is this: http://www.headlessusa.com/jcustom-fixed-bridge
also the string clamps by the "headstock" are just floyd rose locks...

What's that wonderful instrument on the far right?
>>1020496
is that a RG450M im seeing ?
>>1022600
not him but it looks like a dope ass dulcimer, a fun instrument typically in an open d tuning, played by barring frets rather than fingering separate strings
Hey bro i refinished a guitar , dont have pics now , i didnt clear coat it yet , do i really have to do that i used car paint
Do i have to sand current coat?
>>1022860
You'll at least want to scuff it evenly with some 600
>>1020482
How hard was it to cut out the body with a handsaw and how long did it take?
>>1022992
About an hour since I was only cutting one layer, I routed around the shape I cut out for the back half. Filing the shape smooth after I glued them together was the time consuming part (not as bad as the spray paint layers, but I've learned my lesson)
