Does replacing old dirt pads on a swamp cooler make it cool better? I just moved to a dry area so I'm not very experienced. Swamp cooler works great until it hits about ~105 degrees then it only makes the house tolerable. Will replacing them make it work better? The pads look pretty dirty so I'm planning to replace them anyway.
Pic is not my pad.
Are swamp coolers the new shipping containers?

Are they talked about a lot here now? I used to lurk here often until a few months ago.
There are charts that show how much cooling can be expected relative to humidity, cleaning won't hurt but don't expect much

Yes good pads will cool more but you cant get a huge change in temperature look at pic related. Better pads will cool a few degrees lower, the fibery one centered in your pic is better than the blue plastic shit to the side, its about the best for residential cooling.
For commercial they have this cardboard shit that's like 8" thick that is better.
If you really wanna get fancy commercial shit they have multi stage evapritive coolers that use a big swamp cooler to cool air which goes into a heat exchanger to cool ambient air before using it on a second evapritive cooler and its this twice cooled air that is pumped into the building.
