Hey /diy/, I want to make a small scale ghetto forge with what I have lying around.

So far I have:
A Large Coffee can
A Propane torch
Steel tubing
Some concrete

The place I work has pretty much every tool I need to work but I was having some trouble with the lining/refractory chamber part. Most forges I've seen or have researched use clay, ceramic wool or just plain steel, I was wondering if a coffee can with a cement lining, or mixture of cement and sand would work? I've heard some peopel saw cement is works but won't last long and other saw that cement is shit and it will fall apart or explode...

I have a propane tanks that I want to scale up to but I want to make sure I can do it first.

Concrete is trash for this, dude. Get some real refractory cement. Forges get very hot, and the point your burner flame strikes is going to get destroyed very quickly

You're overthinking it. Just dig a little pit in the ground and blow air into some charcoal in it with a pipe and a bag (pic related).

not op but related question, how do I into crucible? Wanted to try making a small lost-wax cast bronze knife, found some storefronts online that sell them but if there's a cheap alternative i'd like to hear about it
