Sup /diy/nosaurs,

How are your gardens doing?

This is my 3rd summer in my home but my first time gardening. The first year I had to save up for a roof, then the second year I had to refill my savings after the roof. So this year I made it a mission to do the garden.

I decided to do a 4x4 and an 8x4. It's a little cumbersome how I built them so next year I am going to do a massive one and combine them.

In the larger one Ive got peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and bushbeans. And in the smaller one I've got 2 more tomato plants, beets, and onions. I went the real route and did this all from seed. I started the tomatos/peppers in my basement under a lamp for most of April/May.

I'm happy with turnout so far. I've got several dozen flowers on my tomatos. Today I cleaned out all of the branches touching the ground and cleaned house on them.

Anywho, I hope yours are going well.

Also, I'm just outside of Detroit for a reference of location.

The house I have now has a garden, but I've not tackled it. The grass is waist high and it's full of a fuckton of wild grass. I need to get rid of all of the grass quickly before I do. It would take literally hours, if not a day to cut all of the grass.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of a fair amount of grass quickly and easily? I'm thinking of using cardboard to kill all the grass off but I'd prefer something quicker and easier as I don't have the cardboard on hand.

Good luck man.

I would do the cardboard method because I hate using chemicals on food plants. If you don't have cardboard get a tarp. Then you can just reuse it for other projects.

I don't know what would be a good summer garden plant as this is my first one. But whatever you want to plant, I would check out when it is best to be planted. I think a lot of plants should have been planted by now so you might have missed the window for what you're looking to grow. It's worth checking out.

OP Here:

I read it wrong. This guy is correct. I use a scythe myself for dandelions. As Ive posted above, just didnt want to use chems. It works like a charm, and I get to work on my golf swing.

Wouldn't that take ages?

I don't have tarp sadly. I'll probably go with cardboard then.

I'm jelly, OP.

The best I can manage right now is a couple of herbs on my windowsill.
