Ok guys, I'm thinking of buying a Kubota G1800. It needs a little work, but I can get it cheap. It runs and mows, but it has been rigged in a few places, ignition, throttle cable. Anyone have any experience with one of these?

Why?

The only orange tractor you should be buying is an Alice. Get a Deere if you want it to last the summer
>>
>>1009613
It's a 1995 model. Shouldn't that say something about its longevity?
>>
>>1009628
Yah it says its way overdue

I have a similar model with the rear catcher.
21hp, cuts anything I can run over with it.
Use it for mowing grass in the growing seasons.
Use it for mowing leaves when they're on the ground.
I'm 73yo so I've been through a few mowers.
It's the best mower I've ever owned (period)

I was so impressed with it I bought a B7500 with a front loader amd bush-hog for driveway work and brush cutting.

Build quality was excellent in the 80's, though I'd bet they don't produce their own riding mowers. And it's not the 80's anymore, so go with what >>1009865 said. If he's the same 73 year old that got here from running the swingers' website ten years ago, he knows his shit.
>>
>>1009605
they are garbage and parts are very expensive.

>>1009628
no that just means they've jacked up the price of parts even more or have outright discontinued them

This would be a great car for you then.

>The couldn't even spell the file name right

I hate riding mowers that have a gas pedal instead of a hand lever for controlling speed. Who the fuck wants to have to hold down a pedal to mow their whole lawn when you could easily push a lever into the right position and just cruise along?
>>
>>1009868
Where do you live? Kubota parts aren't too expensive where I am, Deere, new Holland and case parts are the expensive ones. I've never had many problems with Kubotas

That would be why, your on another continent. Had a small b600 and a r410 for years with no real problems, its just the Deere which seems to cost me the most in breakdowns

I'm the 73yo with the G2160 mower and the B7500 compact tractor.
(yes, I came here from the porn site I ran)
I live near Bryant.
I'm going to Fiser Tractor at Alexander in the morning to get oil and hydraulic fluid.
I'm changing the tractor oil and replacing all other filters too.

I seem to remember someone else bringing up their age on this forum before.
How the hell did you find this here?

Also, although kubota is well respected outside of the US, it's better to look at cost of keeping it running versus other more established brands in the region.

>How the hell did you find this here?
Occasionally on the porn site I'd see where someone posted a pic of some yungun with -sup /b/- written on a sign or body part.
I decided to find the sauce and that led to /b/
Wandering boards and found /diy/
I tried to help as many as I could at first but soon realized most thread starters on here are clueless idiots beyond help.
When I'd find a thread by someone I thought could actually help I was usually drowned out by the other kind of clueless idiots who thought they could help.
I've taken a break from /diy/ for a while and read a lot of /pol/ now.
Just stopped in a few times in the last couple of weeks to see how much had changed.
(not much - summer's here)

As in I'm 'un-watching' and going back to /pol/ and /b/

That's cool mang. You are officially the oldest person ever on 4chan.

Don't be grumpy mang its just really unusual to get people past 30 on here.

Also 4chan is full of assholes, /diy/ is maybe one of the better boards but it still has its assholes, just the other thread some asshole was telling people to grease threads on oxygen tanks.

But tbqh you brought this on yourself. It's like when a girl says 'im a girl' like why does that matter and now the whole thread is about weather or not its really a girl. We are all anonymous here so you inadvertently attention whored yourself by claiming to be the oldest person ever in the history of 4chan.

Dammit old-anon... err... "experienced"-anon! Why'd you have to go and post that? Inside I was holding out that you were really Tubalcain, which to me would just be funny as hell! And now my dreams are ruined.

Seriously, I spent my summers in the early 80's on a Kubota 6100 spraying fence rows with Round-Up. Also had a bush hog and a backhoe, and it was awesome. Family had bigger ones too, 2 245's, a 260, a 345, all of them just ran like a top with no break downs at all. My only complaint was that the engine frequency or harmonics or the orange color or whatever seemed to attract sweat bees like crazy. And to date I have no ill effects from the Round-Up either.

Thank you for the advise, sir.

Canada. it's not just parts tho, their fluids are also pretty expensive and the newer ones require their fluids and only their fluids. sure JD and CIH can also be expensive but overall cost to run is cheaper then most brands
