A Bluetooth keyboard with terrible range. So I was wondering if there is a way for me to boost the signal?
Perhaps dismantle another Bluetooth device and use the transmitter?

Backside of the chip
>>
the keyboard is unmarked so going on google for schematics would be impossible.
It's only one chip with 2 button's, a micro-charge port and a battery.
>>
Without schematics you dead. But have fun if you want.

Just go buy a better keyboard.

There must be a model number hiding somewhere? Or some mark

Got it for free and I intend to use it at it's fullest (even if it turns into a glorified frisbee)

im not that great with rf stuff but who da fack decided it was a good idea to put the antenna trace in-between/in-the-middle of the ground plane on both sides of the pcb? wth man!
or does that not hinder the signal strength at all (only the direction)?
wouldnt cutting and lifting the traces like in pic related near the antenna improve signal strength (anyone experienced with rf got any pointers)? the power wires would have to be soldered up ahead on the though

(assuming you're using a bluetooth dongle for your computer)

Get a USB extension cable and use it to put the bluetooth dongle closer to where you'll be using the keyboard, or maybe tape it 3/4 of the way up the wall so that its LOS to the keyboard is unobstructed by furniture.

If you're using it with a device that has built in bluetooth, the only advice I can give is to check the antenna is undamaged and has continuity, and make sure the battery is putting out enough voltage. (if it's rechargeable one or more cells might be dodgy.)

It works flawlessly around 1m from the receiving end.

We don't have those Jews in our country.

What resistance so you get when you put your probes across than antenna? What chemistry are they batteries and what voltage do you read across them?
>>
I've got that very same keyboard for my Chuwi Hi8 tablet.

Here's a story about it;

>At nephew's birthday party
>He gets table tennis set
>One paddle immediately breaks
>We use my bluetooth keyboard's metal backside as a paddle
>Later on
>His mother, my sister, is using the family laptop
>A hyperactive child spills a drink on the laptop
>Keyboard stops working
>Tether my keyboard to it as an interim fix

And that's how the crappy chink bluetooth keyboard saved christmas.

Lol, IDK pin. Even the board has no idea what it is doing.

I love a happy ending.

I would guess the U-shaped trace on the right labeled "ant" is the antenna.
If this is the case, proceed to Google "diy external bluetooth antenna". Also, since that side of the board faces upwards, drill a hole into the plastic frame and have it stick out from there, vertically if possible.

>congrats to whoever came up with this cookie monster themed pcb

Antenna stuff is a black art, it's hard to say without 3D simulations + testing in an anechoic chamber.

I doubt cutting that shit will help but it's easy enough to repair afterwards.

Hack this shit onto it.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331478508794

Then get this shit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262464893089

Attach another of this shit onto that shit

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331478508794

Then get some of these shits and replace the shit on those shits with these shits.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221906868585

Now you can use your keyboard like 3 miles away. GG OP you win.
