Vriska never reverted. Post-retcon Vriska never changed into the fat slob that pre-retcon Vriska did by sitting around doing nothing for eternity.

There was no reason to explain or justify Vriska being old Vriska because she didn't go through anything that would result in a shift of personality. Showing the post-retcon ship and/or meteor also wouldn't have served any real purpose. We saw what happened, it was just those same events but with Vriska and without John and Davesprite.

John is like a puppy. He has little to no internal motivations, or values, or goals.
Exactly 4 through the entire comic get him to act for himself:
-Something happens that affects him
-Someone tells him to do something
-He feels an emotion
-He is bored
That's it.

One-track mind, one-track heart. Only the present moment matters to him: his overall stance towards Vriska will be hate one moment and love the next.
Power and responsibilities are tremendously wasted on him. It would almost be a good thing, since he's not using them for bad purposes, but he'll do literally anything as long as a friend asks and says "trust me".
And if it turns out the friend couldn't be trusted he won't even notice. Or care. As long as it doesn't affect him in one of the 4 ways described above.

He's still the designated main character, because Hussie likes subversion.
>>
>>84329151

hes a talking silent protagonist. which seems impossible but somehow it exists and its john. he is link, ness, crono etc. he has no wants or needs or character of his own outside of that of his 'player'. which starts out as us, the audience, and then starts up cycling through a bunch of different characters including wv, vriska and terezi.

im 100% certain this is intended

Every other character acts for a reason, obviously, it all boils down to desires and needs (otherwise no one would be doing anything).
Thing is, John's desires are always absurdly simple and short term: he wants to win the game and keep his friends alive, but there is no middle step between his current situation and his goal.
So when he's acting for himself he ends up hitting things with a hammer and pushing others out of harm's way. He doesn't make plans, and he doesn't think critically: if something is threatening his simple values (e.g. it's a bad thing to let psycho serial killers like Jack roam free; Vriska is a psycho serial killer like Jack; Vriska is roaming free) he will not notice it. If someone brings this thing up he will dismiss it, because this kind of conflict somehow short-cirtcuits his brain.
But in theory, if someone tells him to stop Vriska, or if he is suddenly angry at Vriska because he saw her kill one of his friends, then he'll probably stop her.

He's a weird kid like that.

the vast majority of early homestuck is attempts at turning videogame tropes into a 'real' story. theres plenty of obvious shit but less obvious ones include how doomed timelines represent times in a game you die and reload, for example. its not a surprise that andrew would try and explore how the silent protagonist trope character would act if he wasnt silent.

the way silent protagonists work is that you're supposed to figure out their thoughts from the reactions of other people
this happens quite a lot in Earthbound because NPCs will talk about Ness's facial expression or restate a question that he would've asked

>>
>>84330687
Because not all sessions have that power and by the time you're god tier you don't really need alchemization?
Also, it simplifies it. It's easier to alchemize something than it is to have a specific idea of what you want to make and account for every single part of it
>>
>>84330754
Wasn't the Titanic also made out of shitty Irish steel that wasn't tempered properly?
You could probably draw a parallel with that too.
>>
>>84330880
Yeah a lot of people blamed cheap rivets made in ireland, but the truth is that 7 things went wrong in the crash. The guy who used to be the lookout was replaced and took the only pair of binoculars with him, most people who were supposed to be watching were partying, they didn't just ram the fucking iceberg, and there weren't enough lifeboats to begin with.

So a lot of stuff was set to fail. Like the ending of Homestuck!

It's odd because unlike all of the other typically "autistic" fanbases like Homestuck, FNAF, MLP, and whatever, Undertale isn't a property that either allows for easy OCs or has constant updates. It's an aquarium, which explains the first part.
The second part... I dunno
Maybe Dave time travels, gets turned into a penguin, and then at some point changes back
Or maybe Dave is nervous because he sees himself as a penguin, and knows in the future he will be cursed as a penguin eternally

I actually enjoyed the ending and post-recton parts. Although I would have enjoyed it better if Vriska hadn't come back, but that's because it kinda broke my heart when she yelled at ghost Vriska.

Classtalk idea: what would you consider, out of all the classes excepting the obvious of Lord and Muse, to be exceptionally rare or possibly glitched/broken? In that, Skaia almost never or even goes out of its way to avoid assigning it as a class/aspect combo, especially if it can go Godtier.

I guess one example idea would be Jade. She seemed hideously OP even without Green Sun powers. I can't imagine Witches of Space being especially common across sessions.

Page of Hope. It's like the "linear fighters, quadratic wizards" problem. Sure it takes a long time to level up a Page, but when you do, those Hope powers will buff your entire party into steamrollering over anything left in the game. A party that carries their Page of Hope through the story quests to level cap will just faceroll their way through end-game raids.

There is no such thing as a useless classpect, however, there are very niche ones. For example, a Rogue of Doom can... Take death from enemies to give to allies?

Like, I'm sure there's some broken way you can abuse it, probably by making doomed objects not doomed and fucking with the alpha timeline, but still, the most apparent first use is actively detrimental to your team. Still, there's probably SOME way to abuse the shit out of it, like there's a way to abuse each class.

>>84333976

>>
>>84334210
>Healer with the healing aspect
>Godtier
>Probably shits out Cure5 and Life4 just breathing at you
>Session is literally impossible to lose

maybe that happens when like, by chance of fate little kids have to play or something and Sburb takes mercy

>>84334239
I can see that, steal the moment of doom from a friend and give it to a foe so it ends up being some bizarre split-second coincidence where the killing blow turns into a freak accident instead
>>
>>84334185

>>84334209

Rogue steals things to buff the party, not just to give things to the party. The diff between Thief and Rogue is the Thief's transactions always involve the Thief, whereas the Rogue's transactions never involve the Rogue directly. So a Rogue could steal an ally's death and gift it to someone else -- say, swapping the location of two people just before a deadly missile lands, or rewriting the address on a letterbomb so it gets sent to Derse instead of a player's mailbox.

> Seer of Heart
and she uses this power merely to get better at imitating others. sometimes the person holding us back the most is ourselves.
>>
>>84334209
Would Roxy be the kind of person to casually drink after kicking her bad habit away?
>>
>>84334239
I suppose it'd be possible, as a powerful one-time or rare maneuver, considering death is supposed to be a thing that happens rather infrequently. I imagine if a Rogue of Doom starts convincing their friends to get suicidal to abuse their power, Skaia will almost definitely punish their hubris.
>>84334315
I posit that Pages are the passive Knights, so while knights exploit their aspect as a weapon, Pages allow others to exploit their aspect (Jake making Brain Ghost Dirk real by believing very hard that he's real, and spontaneously making Angels, a pure manifestation of Hope, appear by yelling very loudly, and Tavros uses breath to give direction to the ghost armies and shit (not that it amounts to much)). So basically imagine Dave's knight of time shenanigans applied to an entire party.

I wish that had some consequence. It would have been great if we found out Dave really resented her for it or went out of her way to screw her back, or if we found out Jade willingly did it outside of the control just to get at Dave.
