It's just that most non-french people haven't seen the movie (waiting for subs) and the only thing they've seen so far is a few promo and screencap still shots. So the cuteness of the puppy is what's readily apparent, while the adult ladies require an appreciation of their personalities to be waifu'd, and that'll only happen once the subs are out.

It got pitched in several countries throughout the last year but interest in buying it remained low. Not sure if that's indiesales fault or if the movie isn't attractive to international distributors. Guess box office numbers also have a hand in it.

Just finished the movie:Liked it, but it wasn't great. The animation was beautiful, but I think they weren't able to get right the fun/serious mix. Sometimes it felt out of place and detracted from the enjoyment of the vision. Drunk!Bakara and the blue gay subplot could easily be cut and the movie would be better, even if I appreciated the guy's role in the finale. The idea to revive Joris's father using the undies was a great way to censor his dick once he had appeared in the vat, but it was one of those details that tilted the equilibrium too much toward silliness. There is other stuff but I prefer to rewatch it subbed before going after the details.

I felt the same regarding the highs and lows of drama and humor. It's like they didn't want the movie to get too sad, but it just prevented the tragedy from sinking in and being appreciated fully in my opinion.

The main issue here is getting people on different time zones (6 to 9 hours difference) to find enough hours straight of free time to review and discuss a script line by line. So unless you can manage to fnd their paycheck to make up for them not going to work for a few days, just throwing money isn't gonna help much. Motivation is not the issue in the first place.
